Part 2: Interactive Discussion
Candidates A and B discuss a series of options set out on the prompt provided by
the interlocutor. They exchange ideas and opinions and sustain a discussion for
four minutes. There is no penalty for failing to reach agreement. The
interlocutor does not take part in the discussion. If candidates start to address the
interlocutor directly, non-verbal gestures should be used to indicate that the
candidates should speak to each other.
Part Two lasts for four minutes.
(Interlocutor to Candidates) Now, in this part of the test I’d like you to discuss
something together for about four minutes. I am going to give you a topic to talk
about, please read the information and then talk together about it. I am just going
to listen to you. You only have four minutes, so don’t worry if I stop you and
please speak up so that we can both hear you.
(To Candidates) Here is your topic. (Put the prompt on the table in front of both
candidates, positioned so that they can both see it clearly.)
The topic is ‘Travel and Transport’. You can start when you are ready.
Part 2
Talk together about the best way to travel in the following situations.
Tell each other about which methods of transport you use most often.
