TRAINING

REPORT

MELIKE BENDAS
ET 3-A
FINAL REPORT
I did my training practice in Laboratory 8th School in Erdenet. When I did my practices to become
a teacher, I dealt with three groups. They were 5th,6th and 7th grades. These three groups were
integrated by teenagers. The 5th grade were composed of 52 students but the 5th grade consisted of
three branches.(5A,5B,5V).They were between ten and eleven years old.The 6th grade were composed
13 students, who were between eleven and twelve years old.The 7th grade were composed 15
students, who were between twelve and thirteen years old.I did my training 4 weeks,I observed
teachers for a week and I watched 10 different lesson for how to teacher explain and teach. Then I
taught lesson three weeks by the way, my guide teacher entered my class 4 times.First time she
observed me and gave advice for how to teach..etc.After three times she entered my class and gave
me point, these classes were 5-b,6-a,and 7-a.

TEACHİNG GROUP Nº1

My first group was 5th grades, there were 52 students with A,B,and V branches. When I started with
my observations, I noticed that this group would not be very difficult to handle. Although there were
three or four students that did not work, the rest of them did not present problems related to that.
These group were not able to speak and understand much because they were new to English this year.
The thing that I scared most in my training practice was that I could not understand but it was not like
I thought. Most of students were very smart and quick to understand the explanations. . During that
first week in which I had the chance to observe the other teacher’s techniques, I paid special attention
to the way she motivated her students. She offered positive grades or rewards for those volunteers
who were encouraged to go to the blackboard or to read aloud. She congratulated them when they did
things right, and she was also very subtle to correct their mistakes. She promoted participation, and I
decided that those strategies would be useful for me too. Then, I taught three new topics these grades
during the my training week, these topics were weather, clothes and fruits &vegetables. My first lesson
was the weather, I prepared something for this lesson.I made weather chart, it was like clock.I moved
the arrow and asked to students one by one´how was the weather today?´ then students answered my
question.By the way I showed video song because visual and audio materials are very important for
this class.Host teacher didn´t do reading and writing exercises because they couldn´t able to these
exercise. That´s why I prepared listening and speaking activity. If there was an unknown word, the
teacher immediately said its meaning (in Mongolian) and I did it like that.End of the lesson students
were in line,I asked to learned new words.I asked in English students said the meaning in Mongolian.
My second lesson´s topic was clothes, I prepared something for this lesson, they were; video
song, flash card, visual material (model of the body and some clothes),worksheet..etc.By the way this
lesson my guide teacher entered my this class and gave point. Before I was so excited and scared then
it was easy but I made some mistakes.During the this lesson students were active in my opinion, they
liked this topic and adopted my lesson. In this lesson I asked some clothes then students translated
into Mongoian,by this means they learn quickly. My third lesson´s topic was fruit &vegetable, first I
showed fruits and vegetables flashcards then I told fruit and vegetables names to students after they
repeated three times,I asked meaning of Mongolian. Before the lesson I prepared role play
materials, after that I called 7 students and I gave some fruits and one vegetables picture and I helped
them to put on their head. Each students explain own fruits and vegetable. I gave them a worksheet
and gave them a sticker to those who did the exercises correctly.
TEACHİNG GROUP Nº2
My second group was 6th grade, there were 13 students. The first class I observed this group, I felt
very happy.I was very happy because this class were quick to understand and active during the
lesson.I taught three new topics these grades during the my training week, these topics were days of
the week, moths and seasons and telling the time. I thought,I would spend a very good time with this
class. My first lesson´s topic was Days of the week, I prepared video song, days
papers,worksheets..etc.This lesson was my first lesson in my opinion, my materials not enough to for
the teaching. People already learn something over time, so I am not angry with myself.During the
lesson students were active, listened carefully and not undisciplined. My second lesson´s topic was
months and seasons, I made seasons chart with picture, months name (it was matching activity),
worksheets. When I showed seasons chart, all students said seasons and months names. This event
made me very happy and I realized that I will not be forced once again.During the lesson, all the
students are really active and I do not know how the time has passed. My third lesson´s topic was
telling the time. This lesson I taught how to tell the time about clock (to,past, quarter to,quarter
past).By the way this lesson my guide teacher gave me point. Before the lesson I was excited and
scared but then I relaxed as I taught the lesson. I prepared video song, time puzzles game, board game
and worksheets. I realized that something bad happened during the lesson,I made some mistakes and
I tried to sort it out.I am really love them, because I understand what it means to be a teacher in this
class.

TEACHİNG GROUP Nº3

My third group was 7th grade, there were 16 students. I was very happy to teach this class because I
was a class teacher of this class so I would get to know them better. When I do observe, I understand
that this three classes I have are very different from each other. Before the teaching, I asked some
questions to my training teacher and she gave me some advice. I thought this class would be harder
among other classes. I taught 3 new lessons in this class and one lesson was with a point. My first
third lesson´s topic was Animal kingdom.I prepared video song, flashcards, worksheets and
homework worksheets. This lesson was not as I expected because I did not know what to do, because
it was my first lesson at 7th grade. But despite everything I tried hard to explain well and at the end
of the lesson I was able to get the answers I wanted to ask. Not all the students answered, but even
this was a big deal for me. My second lesson´s topic was prepositions of place. I promised myself
that I would be good at this lesson and I prepared powerpoint, video song, worksheets and I used text
book. I gave examples of real objects in class to draw attention of these students. I really enjoyed this
lesson and I am sure that the most of students understand this lesson. My third lesson´s topic was
present continuous tense.I prepared poster, activity cards, worksheets. This lesson was so important for
me the first reason is, this topic was grammar and students would learn for the first time, the second
reason is my guide teacher entered my class and gave me point .During the lesson I used board,
because I thought they would understand better if I wrote the forms. I also liked this class because I
played various games and did general knowledge competition with them.

PLANNING STAGE

I have to admit that planning was not an easy task for me. It took me a lot of time to organize the
whole lesson according to the time allotted, to choose the activities that would be included and the
material that would be used, etc. Before I thought like this but then, I realized that my thoughts were
wrong.A person who make a plan is always more organized. I prepared a lesson plan for each lesson.
Generally, my lessons plans included:
 WARM-UP
 PRESENTATION OF THE TOPIC

 PRACTICE: Vocabulary activities Grammar activities Reading activities Writing activities

Listening activities Speaking activities
 EVALUATİON
 HOMEWORK
As a conclusion of this period, I can say that planning was a very rich and helpful stage. It was
useful to organize myself and the contents I was going to teach. It also allowed me to manage the
time better.

CONCLUSION
I must admit I was terrified about taking this step, for that reason I deferred my decision. Now, I can
say I regret having waited so long to do it, because it was the most gratifying experience in my life. I
was able to be at the front of a class, to transmit my knowledge, but also to learn a lot. I felt happy
when I did things right, but what really taught me were the mistakes I made. I took advantage of
them, and tried hard not to repeat them, but correct them. I know it is not the end of my practices. It
is just the beginning. There is a lot that I still have to learn and to go through. I thank my host teacher
because she was in solidarity with me. She showed me how to get the material she was using, and
gave me good energy all the time. I thank
Three groups of students because they did my task easier. I noticed that they behave better than they
generally did, and most of them were very participative. And finally, I thank my training teachers
Khongorzul and Otgonerdene , who gave me the best suggestions and guided me along the way. It
was a real pleasure to have such a teacher. My challenges in five classrooms led me to grow
personally and professionally. I hope to be a good teacher and to keep on learning throughout life. I
will do my best!
