Activity 2
Aim: - to present and activate the vocabulary of the unit
Interaction: T- Ss-Ss
Procedure: Pupils' books open. The T writes the title on the board, reads the title of the unit and has
pupils repeat. The T explains what the title means, plays the recording,the pupils listen and
repeat chorally and individually. The T checks their pronunciation and intonation .
Time: 5 minutes

Activity 3“What were they?”
Aim: To write, listen, point and sing.
Interaction: T-Ss
Time: 15 minutes
Procedure: The T reads the instructions and explains the task, refers the pupils to the pictures and
reads out each person's name. The pupils repeat after me. The T asks the pupils to tell if
they know /have heard of these people and what their job was, asks them to choose among
the words in bold and write what they think each person in the pictures was, allows them
time to complete the task.
Rudolf Nureyev - dancer (He was a famous Russian ballet dancer.)
Florence Nightingale - nurse (She was a nurse who took care of injured soldiers.)
Charles Dickens - writer (He wrote famous stories, such as "David Copperfield " and "Oliver Twist" .)
Antonio Vivaldi - composer (He composed "The Four Seasons" and many other symphonies.)
Leonardo da Vinci - artist (He painted the Mona Lisa.)
Yuri Gagarin - astronaut (He was the first man in space.)
The T tells them that they are going to listen to the recording and that they will have to point
to the correct picture whenever they hear one of the jobs in bold. Play the song. The pupils
listen to the song and point to the correct person each time. The T plays the recording again.
The pupils listen and sing along .
Activity 4
Aim: - to develop pupils’ reading and writing
Interaction: T-Ss_Ss
Time: 15 minutes
Procedure: The T reads the instructions and explains the task, refers the pupils to the pictures a-c and
asks them if they know who they were, allows them some time to read the texts and match
them to the pictures, checks their answers, plays the recording for the pupils to listen and
follow the lines. The T explains any unknown words. Individual pupils read out from the
texts. a 2, b 3, c 1

Activity 5
Aim: - to familiarise the pupils with the pronunciation
of the English language
Interaction: T-Ss_Ss
Time: 5 minutes
Procedure: Listen and say. Then read. The T reads the instructions and explains the task, plays the
recording for the pupils to listen and repeat. The T draws the pupils' attention to the /a'/
sound, asks individual pupils to read out the sentence and corrects their pronunciation .
Materials: pupils book, Cd
Activity 6:
Aim: For the next lesson, the pupils should do Ex. 4 (Portfolio)
Procedure: The T asks the pupils to look at the picture and read the text, asks the pupils to write a description of
a famous person in the past and stick or draw a picture. The T tells them to use the
texts in Exs 3 and 4 as models (e.g. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a famous composer. He could play the
piano very well.).
