TOTAL E & P INDONESIE

1. Introduction
Sisi and Nubi are two gas fields located on the East of Kalimantan (Indonesia) around 25km
offshore from the Mahakam river delta.
They cover areas of 58km² and 78km² respectively. The water depth is between 60 and 90 meters,
and the reservoir pay zones are between 3800 meters and 1900 meters below mud line.
Hydrocarbons are trapped along faults in shale-sand alternated reservoirs.
The two fields lie at the boundary between two permits, the main TOTAL Mahakam PSC and the
TOTAL Tengah J.O.A. An unitization of these permits was approved in 1997 by Pertamina
leading to the current SISI NUBI unit.
The proposed development of SISI and NUBI fields include 67 wells, drilled from 9 wellhead
platforms, 4 on SISI and 5 on NUBI.
TOTAL E&P INDONESIE (the “COMPANY”) has awarded a contract to HYUNDAI HEAVY
INDUSTRIES CO. LTD (the “CONTRACTOR”) for the engineering, the procurement and the
construction of the SISI NUBI gas pipeline project.
For this purpose, the Contractor has subcontracted the Onshore and Nearshore works in relation to
this 26” submarine gas pipeline to PT GEOCEAN INDONESIA (the “Subcontractors”). Including
but not limited to the construction Engineering and procedures, the onshore works, push pull
operation, shallow water pipelaying and post trenching up to KP 13.75.

2. Purpose of this document

The purpose of this document is to define how GEOCEAN intents to carry out the survey and
positioning operations for the preparation of the crossing areas and the Near shore pipeline laying
activity including the data recording. This procedure does not apply for the onshore backfilling
survey work as well as survey activity related to the post trench work.

The specifications of Odom MKII echo sounder are summarized as follows:
Operating Depth : 0.5 m to 1000 m
Range resolution : 10 cm
Frequency : 33 and 220 kHz (dual frequency)
This equipment will be calibrated on a daily basis by mean of bar check.

10.4 Tide gauge

One Tidal observations will be done as close as possible of the work area (GTSA).
The echo-sounding data will be reduced to Chart datum. Tidal heights will be based on tide
measurement.
The Model 740 Valeport we will use is a small Tide Gauge/Water Level Recorder, specifically
designed for applications where the user simply requires an accurate record of water height.
Comprising a corrosion resistant Titanium housed vented pressure transducer, connected via a 20
m cable to an above surface battery powered logger, the Model-740 is simple to install, and
requires minimal maintenance.
The burst length, cycle time delay start time and site information is set using the PC software
package supplied. This simple program also allows the battery voltage to be checked, the time and
date to be set, and the recorded data to be extracted in a spreadsheet compatible format.

11.Mobilization and Calibration

Prior to starting the installation of the survey equipment onboard the barge, it will be confirmed that
all equipment has arrived using the equipment listing. This includes all the necessary tools, test
equipment, safety gear and clothing, consumables, equipment and software manuals, software and
project documentation. In the event of omission, loss or damage the senior surveyor will report the
deficiency to the chief surveyor and arrange for repair or replacement at the earliest opportunity.

activities will usually take place when the vessel is alongside a jetty.

• Installation of all survey equipment.

• Function test each individual system, including spare systems.
• Function test the complete survey set-up, including software in operational mode.
• Measure and document lay barge.
• Carry out DGPS verification, gyro compass calibration, echo sounder bar check and any
other sensor that can be performed in port.
• Calibrate AHT fluxgate gyro.
• Ensure all parameters, offsets, corrections and data files have been correctly entered in the
navigation software.
• Project briefing of personnel.
• Safety instruction and briefing.
• Secure all equipment and store consumables in a dry place.
Once the vessel is at sea further checks and calibrations will be performed.
• Verification of surface navigation system.
• Verify AHT positioning system.
• Ensure all data input into the survey computer is correct.
• Testing data and telemetric link.
All checks and calibrations completed will be documented in a mobilization and calibration report.
The report will be checked & signed by the company representative, party chief surveyor and
contractor representative.

11.1 Horizontal Controls

Differential corrections from existing shore based or fixed structure reference Bench Marks will be
used.
These controls have been tied to COMPANY control network (based on T9) and are accepted
geodetic control points.
DGPS signals from two reference stations will be received on the survey vessels and input to the
navigation, allowing position redundancy and QC. The gyro compass will be interfaced directly to
the navigation system.
The positioning system on the crane and lay barge will be a dual reference system: Primary and
Secondary.
All mobiles such as AHT’s and survey boat shall be capable of switching manually from one
reference station to another should signal degradation occurs.

11.2 GPS /RTK system calibration

1 receiver GPS will be installed onshore benchmark ( Base Station) on an existing point which
co-ordinates are perfectly known (these benchmark to be provided by client). Position read on the
second benchmark with Trimble 5700 GPS receivers & TSC1 controller mobile will be compared
to theoretical positions. The operation will be repeated with the AG132 receivers.

A GPS control form will be checked and signed by the Company representative, the Party Chief
Surveyor and the Contractor representative.

11.3 Crane barge and Lay barge

The DGPS receivers on board lay barge will be tested and calibrated before their installation on
board on Company provided Bench Marks.

11.4 AHT Positioning System

The positioning system will be checked by taped offset measurement to the stern roller when AHT
is along side the barge.
The AHT magnetic fluxgate compass will be calibrated during mobilization and will be verified in-
field.
The self-calibration procedure for the fluxgate compass requires the AHT to traverse two complete
360 degree circle so that the compass can automatically compensate for local magnetic field
distortion. Each circle should take about 2 minutes to complete. Once the auto compensation
procedure has been performed the magnetic fluxgate compass will be checked by monitoring the
AHT heading in the BMS whilst the AHT moves away from the barge on a constant heading.

11.5 Survey boat positioning

The survey boat will be positioned By GPS RTK system.

11.6 Echo sounder calibration

The Echo will be mounted on a secure mounting approx. 0.5 meters below the hull of the boat
on a vertical line to the positioning of the antenna, or at appropriate height considering the water
depth on site.
The calibration of the echo sounder is carried out before and after the operation, to determine the
actual sound velocity in water on the operation site.
The plate method (bar check) is used to calibrate the echo sounder. This consists in a comparison
between the depth measured by the sounder and actual depth. The actual depth is measured by
lowering a metal plate to the seabed on a graduated cable (each 0,5m).
The sound velocity is adjusted on the echo sounder in order to match the depth reading together
with the actual metal plate depth.
During the survey a heave compensator will be used.
The calibration results and the sample of the track chart will be exhibited in the report.
The minimum accuracy for bathymetry is <1% of water depth.

and for approval by Contractor representative of the main GEOCEAN daily report.
The daily report of survey operations shall contain but not be limited to the following:
• Vessel Name
• Date and Location
• Report Number
• Position and KP at 24 Hours
• Weather condition
• Summary of past 24 hours survey/positioning activities
• Number of joints laid per shift, per day, daily and cumulative
• Significant discrepancies and obstructions
• Brief statement of activities planned for next 24 hours
• Daily and accumulated hours of operational time, standby time, transit time
• Equipment list with status

13.3 Barge Track

Using the theoretical route to follow and the calculation of the pipeline touch down point during
the laying operation, the navigation software will create a "barge route" (based on the design
route, the direction of lay and the theoretical layback distance).
During the laying, the route shown by the navigation software will be followed by the barge.
If the design route incorporates a curved section then the barge route will also have a curve,
which will be offset slightly. As the barge moves around the curve the navigation computer will
display the next heading and bearing necessary for each vessel move.
In practice, due to variations in layback and other factors the position of the lay barge will often
have to be adjusted by small amounts in order to keep the pipeline on the design route.
