Installing Nokia BTS Optional Items > Installing Flexi System External OVP (FSES)
Purpose
Note: The gland is tightened at the factory to the torque of 2.5 Nm (22.1 in-lb). Gland should not been loosen or tightened during
installation or maintenance.
Procedure
2 Install the FSES onto the top or the bottom of the module casing using two screws.
The distance between the RF Module and the FSES is limited by the length of the output power cable (180 cm (5.9 ft)) and its physical path.
Tighten the screws to 2.0 - 2.5 Nm (17.7 - 22.1 in-lb).
Alternatively, you can connect the cabling first and then install the FSES ready-cabled.
Select from the available options
• Install the FSES onto the top of the module casing.

Note: When installing 3U casing outdoors, it is recommended to install FSES onto the bottom of the module
casing.

5 Strip the DC power cable and wrap tape around the exposed wires in order not to break the IP boot.
Note: For DC feeder cable details, see Feederless site and Distributed site solution requirements in the Nokia BTS Installation Site Requirements
1. Strip the DC cable about 10 cm (4 in.) and wrap tape around GND mesh and cable sheath neck.
2. Wrap some tape around the exposed wires in order not to break the IP boot.

3. Insert the taped end of the DC feeder cable into the IP boot.
When using a thick cable, the narrow end of the IP boot can be removed using scissors. Cut in one go so that you get a clean cut surface. See the interactive
only one DC cable with a diameter of maximum 25 mm (0.98 in.) to the IP boot. The minimum cable diameter is 6 mm (0.24 in.).
NOTICE: The IP boot edge must be smooth. Ensure there are no cracks present in the edge, as it compromises boot IP protection.

For feeding DC power with two cables, there is a DC terminal seal cable adapter kit 8-11 (088618A) available in a box of ten adapters from the Hardware Ser
086390A at the 20-25 mm marking. The exact cutting point is shown in the picture below. Then insert the adapter inside the DC terminal seal.

Note: Keep the tape around the GND mesh and cable sheath neck to protect IP boot from sharp edges.

6 Connect the wires to the screw terminal. Tighten to 3.0 Nm (26.6 in-lb).
Pay attention to the markings (V48N (-), V48RTN (+) and GND) on the FSES lid to ensure correct polarity.
If you have a shielded DC cable, connect the shielding to the terminal marked with GND. Note that the FSES grounding cable must be
connected to the plinth.

7 Fix the IP boot in place and fix the screw. Tighten to max. 2.0 Nm (17.7 in-lb).
Tip: Bend the IP boot to the side to make it easier to fix the screw.
Note: On sites where birds or rodents are a concern, it is recommended that exposed cables and DC terminal seals are protected with conduit. Use an
standard conduit for that purpose. Make sure that the conduit is securely locked in position as close to the IP seals as possible. If you use optional Flexi
Covers (FMHA/FMTA), also protect any cabling coming out of the side cover kit with conduit. Figure: Example of conduit usage is an example and show
connected to the FSES EAC interface.

8 Fix the DC feeder cable to the cable entry with a cable tie.
To ensure the FSES DC feeder cable has proper strain relief, also fix the DC feeder cable firmly to the surrounding structure of the Flexi module, as close as possible t
input connection.

9 Depending on your cable routing, fix the DC power cable and grounding cable to the cable entry with a cable tie.
Note: The minimum bending radius for factory installed DC cable is 90 mm (3.5 in.).

4. Connect the wires to the N.O. (+) and Common (-) terminals.

Note: On sites where birds or rodents are a concern, it is recommended that exposed cables and DC terminal seals
are protected with conduit. Use any suitable standard conduit for that purpose. Make sure that the conduit is
securely locked in position as close to the IP seals as possible. If you use optional Flexi Side Covers (FMHA/FMTA),
also protect any cabling coming out of the side cover kit with conduit.

6. Connect the other end of the alarm cable either to the EAC port on the System Module front panel or to Flexi System External
Alarm (FSEB). For RF Module and RRH external alarm interface connections, use pre-defined EAC cables. See chapter EAC
cables in Nokia BTS Cables and SFPs Description for a list of available cables.
