It is a great honour to us in inviting you all along with your family to the
IPSOCON 2018, to be held at abode of Lord Venkateshwara, the temple town
Tirupathi from 26th to 28th October, 2018. This spectacular knowledge sharing
event is jointly organised by Tirupathi Psychiatric Society, Dept. of Psychiatry,
Sri Venkateshwara Medical College and Dept. of Psychiatry, Sri Padmavathi
Medical College.
Our thinktank has set the theme for the conference as “Back to Basics -
Challenges to Opportunities (B2B - C2O)” which will showcase the frontiers in
the field of psychiatry. Psychiatrists have to rely only on good clinical history
and keen observation skills. The ability of identifying a clinical phenomenon is
equal to eliciting a clinical sign. In this cyber age with a knowledgeable patient
and relatives it becomes all the more difficult to make out the phenomenon. The
existing laws which give importance to confidentiality and patient’s rights
makes this task more challenging.
We hope that you will have a great scientific feast and a divine feeling in the
spiritual context at this temple town of Tirupati.
Expecting you all along with your family to have a great time to experience not
only beautiful scenic views of this green and divine city Tirupati, but also
surroundings of the city and our divine hospitality.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission for Paper Presentation
• Last date for abstract submission by 30th September 2018
• Conference registration is required for submission of abstracts.
• Theme for the free papers will be "Psychiatry as an art and science in the next decade"
• Preference to Studies over case reports or case series will be given for Oral presentation.
• Oral presentation slots is limited based on the time available, hence early submission will
Be given preference for oral presentation.
• Word count for should be limited to 150 words for case reports and 300 words for studies
• Poster should be flex printed with poster size - 1 x 1.5 Sq. meters use large text (the text should be
atleast 18-24 pt; headings 30-40 pts; title - 72 pt)

AWARDS

S.S. Jayaram Award

• The award is presented each year to a paper presented at the Annual Conference of the IPS South
Zone by any member of IPS SZ. For the paper to be considered for the award the author should
submit four copies of the full paper to the Chairman, IPS SZ Awards Committee before 30th September,
2018. The paper should be prepared in accordance with the “Instructions to the Contributors” published
by Indian Journal Psychological Medicine (December 2006, Volume 28).
Dr. S. Raju Memorial PG Award
• The award is presented each year to the best paper presented by the Post Graduate trainee from any
of the states / Union territory of the South Zone.
• The papers selected as the best PG trainee papers for all the five states are eligible for the consideration
for the award. For the papers to be considered for the award the PG trainees who have won the best
paper award in each state should send four copies of the full papers to the Chairperson, IPS SZ
Awards Committee before 30th September, 2018.
Shatavahana Best PG Poster Award
• This award has been instituted by Karimnagar Psychiatric Society through Indian Psychiatric Society,
Telangana State Branch from the year 2018. Three prizes for best PG posters will be awarded at the
valedictory function of the IPSOCON with 1st Prize Rs.8000, 2nd Prize Rs.5000 and 3rd Prize Rs.3000.
Poster Abstract should reach the Awards Committee Chairman before 30th September, 2018. The
best 15 (maximum fifteen) selected poster abstracts will be approved for presentations at the IPSOCON.
Blitz Presentation
• We will be having a unique Blitz presentation competition on the topic “Making most of MHCA -
Practioners Perspective” looking into the future prospects of psychiatry in India. Consultant Psychiatrists
and PG’s with innovative ideas as leverage the MHCA to benefit the fellow psychiatrists in India. The
top 10 entries will get a compete for 3 attractive prizes. Please mail a 150 word preview of your talk to
ipsocon2018@gmail.com before 30th September. Time for presentation will be for 6 minutes and
speakers are allowed to use a maximum of 5 slides.
South Zone Quiz competition
• A quiz competiton for under graduate medical students will be held during IPSOCON2018. The expenses
for the participations (Return second class sleeper train fare) will be provided by the respective state
branches. Accommodation and local hospitality will be arranged by the organising committee of the
annual conference.
• The Hony General Secretaries of the state branches are requested to send the details of two teams to
Organising Secretary of the annual conference for providing local hospitality to them.

Tirupati is a city in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh

Hindu pilgrimage sites because of Tirumala
Venkateswara Temple, besides other historical

ALIVELU MANGAPURAM KANIPAKKAM TEMPLE SRIKALAHASTHI TEMPLE CHANDRAGIRI FORT

Alamelumanga Temple : Sri Padmavathi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Padmavathi, who was the
consort of Lord Venketswara. The temple was constructed during the reign of King Thondaman Chakravarthy.
Kanipakam : It is famous for its Lord Ganesha temple. According to historical evidence, the temple was
built in the early part of the 11th century CE by King Kulothung Chola I. Local legend claims that the idol of
Lord Ganesha housed in the temple grows continuously
Srikalahasti Temple : The Srikalahasti Temple is also referred to as Daskshina Kailasam. The temple has
three majestic towers, which can leave visitors spellbound with the ornate and beautiful architecture. The
massive 100-pillared mandapam was constructed in the 16th century by Krishnadevaraya.
Chandragiri Fort : This fort was built on a massive rock in 1000 AD. It is located at a height of 183 metres
and is a testimony of the outstanding architectural expertise that prevalent during the Vijayanagar Empire.
Horsley Hills : Horsley Hills is a beautiful and scenic hill station in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Located
at an altitude of 4,100 ft Horsley Hills is about 144 kilometres from Tirupati and offers a wonderful escape.
Talakona Waterfall : Located in Sri Venkateswara National Park, Talakona Waterfall is the highest waterfall
in the region and a famous picnic spot. The water is believed to have medicinal properties and comes from
an unknown underground stream. The attraction is also famous for trekking
