Dear <redacted>
I read in November of 2018 that Sylvan Learning is hiring tutors for their Grand Rapids location, and I
would like to speak with you about this position. My strong work ethic, patience and passion for working
with kids make me a good match with Sylvan Learning Center. Also, my education in developmental
psychology make me a good candidate for a tutor and working with kids.
For the past semester, I have been studying developmental psychology. My work ethic and focus have
helped me succeed in this class and gain the most amount of knowledge about development as I can. I am
a responsible student and have loved the experience to participate in this course that I believe will be
extremely helpful for work in the future. I believe that my work ethic and responsibility make me a good
match to work at Sylvan Learning.
During my course in developmental psychology I have gained vast knowledge about the cognitive,
biosocial, and psychosocial development of people from each stage of life. I have learned how to work
with kids, and what techniques ways help different age groups focus, learn and better grasp the material
they are learning. Through this class I have spent time with kids of all ages. This has most definitely
increased my patience and ability to work and get along with kids. I believe my experiences have
prepared me to be a strong candidate to fill the tutoring position at Sylvan Learning.
I am looking forward to meeting with you to interview for the the tutor position. I am sure that my
patience, responsibility, work ethic and knowledge in childhood development can help Sylvan Learning.
