which magnetic
force is generated when current is passed through a conducting coil. Where produced attractive/
repulsive magnetic force is used to harness a reciprocatory motion which is further converted to
rotary motion of a wheel with the help of a crankshaft. It can be constructed with coil, magnet,
battery, shaft, flywheel and a voltage source.
Objectives:
1. Discuss how a solenoid works
2. Use the magnetic force to produce mechanical work
3. Working prototype of the engine delivering constant RPM to a wheel (Observably constant).
VI. Observations
We observed that the speed of the wheel depends on the intensity of magnetic field generated by
solenoid. Hence, high voltage will result in more rpm of the wheel, then magnetic force is generated
when current is passed through a conducting coil. The produced attractive and repulsive magnetic
force is used to harness a reciprocatory motion which is further converted to rotary motion of a
wheel.
VII. Problems Encountered
It is expensive
The coil needs to be continuous to avoid changing
Battery needs to be in low capacity (mAh) in our case we used a powerbank, so it is
exploded
Computing of how coil turns to produce a desired work
It takes time to build it.
The team encountered issues with the scheduling members found ways to use their time
efficiently.
VIII. Conclusion
After completing this project, teammates have concluded that a solenoid creates a electromagnet
used to produce magnetic force to run the piston and that force transferred to the connecting rod
and ultimately it rotates the shaft that delivers such power, It converts the magnetic energy
produced by solenoid into mechanical energy and then the speed of the wheel relies upon the
power of attractive field produced by solenoid. Consequently, high voltage will result in more rpm
of the wheel.
