 Just add an 's' to make most words plural - examples: cats, dogs, girls, bats
 If the noun ends with a ch, s, sh, x, or z add an 'es' to make it plural - examples: churches, boxes, witches, witnesses
 If the noun ends with a letter y and the letter before the y is a consonant

Irregular Plural Nouns
Just when you think it's simple along comes the phrase 'irregular plural nouns'! What exactly does this mean? Most English nouns
are very predictable ( or regular ) in the spelling of the plural form - you just add an 's' or 'es' which make 'regular' plural words. But
there are always exceptions to the rule and these are referred to a 'irregular plural nouns! When irregular nouns change from their
singular form to become plural, their spelling changes in a different way as in mouse and mice (or it may not change at all as in the
word scissors). It would be incorrect English to add an 's' or 'es' to these 'irregular' words. The following list of irregular examples will
make this definition much clearer:

bison bison cactus cacti
calf calves child children
elf elves foot feet
goose geese knife knives
