TITLE 1: Quality Improvement of ESP in Mechanical Engineering

AUTHOR: Alina- Andreea Dragoescu

YEAR: 2010

DESCRIPTION:

The latest political positioning of Serbia has caused many changes in the society
with the most dramatic economic shift on the market. The market requires young
educated employees with special additional “soft skills”. This has resulted in the
need to change the Serbian educational system with the Bologna process
implemented. Therefore, the syllabus of ESP in Mechanical Engineering must be
adjusted to the demands as regards needs analysis so that it can meet the
requirements of the rapidly growing market. This paper offers an outline of ESP
syllabus which can be regularly updated with respect to technological and other
changes on the market

TITLE 2: Automatic control and management of electrostatic precipitator

AUTHOR: N.V.P.R. Durga Prasad, T. Lakshminarayana

YEAR: 2002

DESCRIPTION:

The efficient operation of electrostatic precipitator (ESP) in practice depends upon

many variables, such as the charging method, particle size, gas flow, temperature,
dust resistivity, etc., with the air pollution control requirements becoming
increasingly stringent, it is essential to closely monitor and accurately control the
key parameters of ESP control system. The efficient functioning of ESP normally
means minimizing the power consumption and maximizing dust collection. Several
control strategies can be adopted to meet this broad requirement. In this paper, a
distributed control technique of ESP which uses the actual dust emission and boiler
load as feedback inputs is explained. The electrostatic precipitator management
system (EPMS), which is a system designed by M/S BHEL to meet the above
control strategies using the distributed architecture to achieve efficient ESP
operation is also described.

TITLE 3: The Analysis and Design of Steel Plant Electrostatic Precipitator Control
System based on IFIX

AUTHOR: Kaixing Wu, Yuqing Zheng

YEAR: 2009

DESCRIPTION:

Electrostatic precipitators (ESP) are the most widely used devices which are
capable of controlling particle emission effectively from steel plants and other
process industries. The performance of an electrostatic precipitator is significantly
affected by its complex running parameters. Once they are set inappropriately, the
failure rate will be increasing. It is, however, difficult to find the fault’s causation
and position, which reduces collection efficiency and drops the level of
management automation. More importantly, that makes gas emission over
standard, the environment polluted. Aim at the above problems, this paper
proposes a kind of ESP control system based on iFix configuration software. The
system brings iFix’s automatic function of data acquisition and data management
into full play, and improves equipment utilization and management degree of
automation as well. This system includes real-time monitoring picture, alarm
processing, report processing and so on. The implement of the system achieves the
goal of improving collection efficiency, pro-environment and energy conservation,
enhancement of security, saving manpower and material resources and convenient
for management and maintenance, so it’s very worthy of expanding.

TITLE 4: THE OPTIMIZING CONTROL OF THE OPERATION VOLTAGE

FOR ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR BASED ON INTELLECTIVE
METHOD

AUTHOR: DA-ZHONG LI , LI TIAN , SHU-PING LIU

YEAR: 2006

DESCRIPTION:

For the problems of dust discharging concentration and power consumption in

power plants, a new optimizing control method on the whole was presented to
improve the performance of the electrostatic precipitator. The corona power model
was identified by least-squares method and dust concentration of the outlet was
represented by the neural network model. Based on this, the operation voltage
optimization was realized by GA. Simulation results show that this control method
can not only ensure the collection efficiency but also save energy.

TITLE 5: Optimization Design of Multi-level Combination Electrostatic

Precipitator Electric Field Voltage Control

AUTHOR: Li Qing, Liu Lihua, Liu Zhiqiang

YEAR: 2010

DESCRIPTION:

For realizing automatic voltage control and automatic protection, the traditional
mechanical potentiometer was replaced by an automatic unit with hardcore device:
microcomputer-single chip and digital programmable potentiometer (DPP), and the
power voltage of the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) were adjusted exactly by the
auto unit. The automatic control process of the ESP’s work voltage was described
in detail by a three combined electric field model with 150mm between
discharging electrode and collecting plate, by monitoring parameters of the ESP
entrance particle size and the exit dust concentration were depended on. The
corresponding flow chart was given out.

TITLE 6: High Voltage Power Supply and Control Technologies for Electrostatic
Precipitators in Biomass Applications

AUTHOR: Norbert Grass, Thomas Fischer

YEAR: 2014

DESCRIPTION:

This paper will show the specific requirements of high voltage power supplies and
their control technology related to small size electrostatic precipitators as they will
be used in applications of biomass fired furnaces in the near future. Unlike large
ESPs, which are installed in heavy industrial plants (e.g. coal fired power stations
or steelworks), the small electrostatic precipitators will mainly be used on private
properties or small businesses and hence, be operated by people even without any
technical background. Therefore, additional requirements need to be considered in
the design of the power supply and the control of such a system, that full automatic
operation with continuous optimization can be achieved without operator
interaction or maintenance. Available power electronic topologies e.g. soft
switched, resonant, or pulsed mode will be evaluated and classified by a strength
and weakness analysis. Additionally, the collection efficiency is strongly
depending on the control performance of the system. Critical operating situations
like heat up phases with fairly unstable combustion processes need exact adaption
of voltage and current dynamics to achieve the required precipitator performance.
Unlike in large electrostatic precipitator plants, flashovers must be merely avoided
due to the noise and EMI, which is not acceptable in domestic environments.
Fuzzy Logic was tested for the control system to process current and voltage
setpoints for the power electronic internal control system. Finally, an example ESP
system setup in laboratory state and measured data will show some results to be
discussed.

TITLE 7: Sliding Mode Traction Control of an Electric Vehicle with Four Separate
Wheel Drives

AUTHOR: Mahdi Jalili-Kharaajoo and Farhad Besharati

YEAR: 2005

DESCRIPTION:

This paper, presents a traction control algorithm for an electric vehicle (EV) with
four separate wheel drives. This algorithm is necessary to improve the handling
and stability of EV during cornering or under slippery road condition. It distributes
the traction power among four drives and espccially an independent torque
reference on each wheel. The proposed algorithm is implemented in terms of a
hierarchical architecture, which incorporates all new known vehicle systems ABS
(Anti-lock Brake System), ASR (Anti Slip Regulation), ESP (Electronic Stability
Program). To achieve good performances a robust sliding mode control strategy is
implemented. Several simulation results, which show the potential of such an
algorithm, are presented

DESCRIPTION:

The control authorities of active front steer, active is controlled by ESP II which
gets information from AFS, ABS, rear wheel steer, brake-based stability control
system and TCS and ESP and transfer control command by network. ESP 4WD-
based stability control system are compared and analyzed. II has better
performances than ESP. It can shorten the brake The results show that these
systems are reciprocal for each other distance and automatic count-steer
independent of driver when and the vehicle stability and handling can be improved
through coordinated control. Based on the analysis result, a coordinated emerge
brake on u-split road. It also reduces driver steer effort principle is advised. The
simulation results show that the and improves vehicle stability on lane change.
Bosch is coordinate chassis control can properly distribute the yaw developing
Vehicle Dynamics Management (VDM) [12] which moment to DYC and AFS
control system and improve stability integrated active steer and active suspension
system on the together.
