Hundreds of years ago i a small Italian town, a merchant had a misfortune of owing
a large sum of money to a moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly,
fancied the merchant’s beautiful daughter so he proposed a bargain. He said he would
cancel the merchant’s dept if he could marry the merchat’ s daughter. Both the mercant
and his daughter were horrified by the proposal.
The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble
into an empty bag. The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag. If she
picked the balck pebble, she would become the moneylender’s wife and her father’s dept
would be cancelled. If she picked the white pebble, she need not marry him and her
father’s dept would still be forgiven. However, if she refused to pick a pebble, her father
would be throw into jail.
They were standig on a pebble strewn path in the merchant’s garden. As they
talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. When he picked them up, the
sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the
bag. He then asked the girl to pick a pebble from the bag.
The girl had put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without
looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble strewn path where it immediately
became mixed with all the other pebbles.
“oh, how clumsy of me,” she said, “but never mind. If you look into the bag for the
one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked.” Since the remaining
pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the white one. Furthermore, since
the moneylender dared not admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an
impossible situation into an advantageous one.

On Wednesday, my students and I went to Yogyakarta. We stayed at Dirgahayu
Hotel which is not far from Malioboro. On Thursday, we visited the temples in
Prambanan. There are three big temples, the Brahmana, Syiwa and Wisnu temples. They
are really amazing. We visited only Brahmana and Syiwa temples, because Wisnu
temple is being renovated.
On Friday morning we went to Yogya Kraton. We spent about two hours there. We
were lucky because we were led by a smart and friendly guide. Then we continued our
journey to Borobudur. We arrived there at four p.m. At 5 p.m. we heard the
announcement that Borobudur gate would be closed.
In the evening we left for Jakarta by wisata bus.

Jasson Mraz “I’m Yours”
I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I been saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue
