The topic of this paper is Syria. What people should know about Syria is that people were

killing each other. The dehumanization evident in the holocaust and Syria compare on the

characteristics of treatment of people, role of government and the theme of dehumanization.

What I will be taking about is Syria and dehumanization.

After tracking the theme of dehumanization for the two genocides, obvious similarities

and difference exist on the topic of the treatment of people In Elie Wiesel’s novel night, he

shares “tightly against one another in the effort to resist the cold our brain a whirlwind of a

decaying memories” (Wiesel 98) This quote depicts the brutal because they are cold and they

don`t have any food or water so they are trying to find a way to stay warm. Moreover, this

example is similar to the genocide in Syria in because research says in peaceful protest erupted in

Syria as well. Another boy was detained and tortured for writing graffiti (“Syria: Civil War

Explained”). This information proves the because 15 boys were detained and tortured for no

reason, just like during the Holocaust.

After tracking the theme of dehumanization for the two genocides obvious similarities

and different exit on the topic of the government role during the genocide. In Elie Wiesel’s novel

Night, he shares “every few yards stood a man had his machine gun trained on us hand in hand

the through” (Wiesel 29). This quote depicts the brutal because government officials randomly

killed people because of orders moreover this example is similar different to the topic in location

because research says he had loss control over true monsters as was calling them (“Syria: Civil

War Explained”). This information proves the topic because the people started doing what they

wanted to do. What caused the uprising- that March peaceful protest erupted in Syria as well

after 15 boy were detained and tortured for Arab spring The situation today - the province is

strategically important for the Syrian Khomeini air base Syrian refugees - return in 2017 about

66,000 refugees returned to Syria accord US and Russia - one year later on April 14 despite

Russian warning the US launched an attack together with France and the UK at chemical

(“Syria: Civil War Explained”).

In conclusion, the treatment of people, role of government and the theme of

dehumanization prove the similarities and differences between the dehumanization found in the

holocaust and Syria. It is important to know what happened in Syria and the holocaust because it

shows how bad times were back then. It is important to learn about this today because it relates

to us in life.
