    CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

    1st TYPE (PROBABLE CONDITIONALS)


    If Present Simple, Present Simple: If it rains, you get wet.(or conditional zero)
    If Present Simple, Future Simple: If you study, you will pass.
    If Present Simple, Imperative: If you see him, give him this.

    1. Write the correct tense of the verbs to make Probable Conditionals.


    1. If you (find) my notebook, I (give) you a present.
    2. The glasses (crack) if you (put) them in boiling water.
    3. If you (see) Tom, (ask) him to ring me.
    4. If the alarm clock (not work), he (not wake up) in time tomorrow.
    5. You are only 15. If you (leave) school now, you (regret) afterwards.
    6. I (not work) any more if the boss (not pay) me.
    7. If your phone (not work), you (can) use mine.
    8. If a driver (brake) suddenly on this wet road, his car (skid).
    9. We (manage) it without Jack if he (refuse) to help.
    10. We (not go) to the party if it (rain)

    2nd TYPE (IMPROBABLE CONDITIONALS)


    If Past Simple, Conditional Simple: If I had a lot of money, I would buy a new house.
    If I could go, I would go/ If I were you, I would do it.
    2. Write the appropriate tense of the verbs to make Improbable Conditionals.
    1. If I (give) her a diamond, she (sell) it.
    2. We (finish) in time if we (work) all night long.
    3. If I (see) a tiger walking across Hyde Park, I (climb) a tree.
    4. If I (be) rich, I (buy) a yacht.
    5. My wife agrees that my mother-in-law (be) nicer if she just (keep) her mouth shut.
    6. He never pays his debts. So I (not lend) him a penny if I (be) you.
    7. I (take) a trip to India if I (win) the football pools.
    8. Your notes are almost illegible. If you (type) them, they (be) easier to read.
    9. If you (leave) your bicycle outside, someone (steal) it.
    10. If a burglar (come ) into my house, I (throw) something at him.

    3rd TYPE (IMPOSSIBLE CONDITIONALS)


    If Past Perfect, Conditional Perfect: If I hadn't been so busy, I would have gone with them

    3. Change the verbs in exercise 2 to make Impossible Conditionals.

    4. Complete the following sentences in any suitable way:

    5. Put the verbs in brackets into a correct form:


    1. She would never have bought the dress if she (not like) it.
    2. If the weather is good, I (take) the dog for a walk.
    3. You needn't go if you (not want) to.
    4. If he (not be) here by 4 o'clock we (go) without him.
    5. If she invites him, he (go).
    6. I (finish) if I had had a little more time.
    7. (Take) an umbrella if you (not want) to get wet.
    8. If he told me to do it, I (have) to obey him.
