 TDMA has two network topologies. Firstly, the
Star topology in which all VSAT units receive
signals from the hub via satellite. Secondly, in a
Mesh topology the VSAT units can also receive
signals from each other. The common feature
between the two is the use of the HUB as a
central node for signals to be transmitted

In an SCPC format the VSAT units send and receive

signals directly from the satellite, eliminating the
HUB from the process. This gives the users
completely dedicated bandwidth therefore making
the communication more efficient. However,
setting up an SCPC may vary in price as compared
to TDMA. It is perfectly suitable for remote
locations with little or no network infrastructure.
