HAZARD IDENTIFICATION
Flammable. Heating may generate vapors which may form explosive vapor/ air mixtures. (H226)
Toxic to Aquatic Organisms. May cause long term adverse effects on the aquatic
environment.(H412)
Eye irritation. 2 (H319)
May Cause Lungs and Stomach Damage If Swallowed
Repeated exposure to skin may cause skin irritation/redness.2(H315)
May cause Skin Allergic reaction (H317)
1
Vapors may cause drowsiness and dizziness (H336)
Skin Contact: Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause defatting of the skin leading to dermatitis.
Eye Contact: Irritation and redness in the eyes. If proper medical attention is not gained, may cause
permanent damage to eyes.
Ingestion: Nausea and stomach pain may occur. There may be vomiting and if proper medical attention
is not gained, permanent damage to stomach may occur.
Inhalation: Prolonged Inhalation of high levels of vapor may cause upper respiratory tract irritation.
Drowsiness or mental confusion may also occur. In severe cases, loss of consciousness may also occur.
Skin Contact: Wash the skin thoroughly with water, soap and some rough rubbing media (Wood dust
may be helpful) and remove contaminated clothing. Obtain medical attention if symptoms develop to
severity.
Eye Contact: Flush the eyes thoroughly with clean water for minimum 20 minutes whilst holding the eye
lids open and seek medical advice immediately.
Ingestion: Donot induce vomiting. Immediately rinse the mouth and drink plenty of water or milk. Get
prompt medical attention.
Inhalation: Remove the casualty from exposure to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, induce artificial
breathing. Keep the affected person warm and at rest. Get prompt medical attention.
Extinguishing Media: Water Spray, Carbon Dioxide, Polymer Foam, Dry Chemical powder
Exposure Hazards: Vapor may travel considerable distance to source of ignition and flash back. In
combustion, the material may emit toxic fumes, Carbon Dioxide/Carbon Monoxide
Protection for Fire Fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective clothing to
prevent contact with skin and eyes.
2
Personal Precautions: Eliminate all sources of ignition. Mark out the contaminated area with signs and
prevent the access of unauthorized personnel.
Environmental Precautions: Donot discharge into drains or rivers. Contain the spillage using sufficient
appropriate absorbent material. Wood saw dust/sand is better to be used to collect the spilled material.
Clean-Up Procedure: Transfer to a closable, labeled salvage container for disposal by an appropriate
method.
Handling Requirements: Ensure that there is sufficient ventilation of the area. Avoid direct contact with
the substance. Use Non-Sparking tools.
Storage conditions: Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area. Prevent the build-up of Electrostatic
Charge in the area.
Respiratory Protection: If workplace exposure limit, mentioned above exceeds, respiratory protection
may be required.
