Controlling Wife
Lady Macbeth controlled her husband and then he felt all the pressure and got stressed,
that is the reason of doing what he did. Three crazy sisters that are witches predict the future of
the Kingdom, that includes the king and all the nobles. Macbeth wanted to be King, with his wife
plan he killed King Duncan. Then Macbeth started to act weir and felt like crazy, he also though
that his best friend,wanted to be King too. He sends two murderers to kill Banquo’s son, Fleance
scapes. Every ran out of Macbeth’s hands. Macbeth can not sleep anymore and he is out of his
mind. Lady Macbeth is the main cause of Macbeth’s downfall because she is the most influential
person on Macbeth. She pressed him so hard and Macbeth could not resist and that is why he did
all the evil thing to become King, and then he kept doing other bad things to cover everything.
Blind ambition took power of him, and the crazyness too.
Lady Macbeth’s cruelty, she do not care about her husband feelings, she is blinded with
ambition and full of evil, and she is determined to convince Macbeth to kill King Duncan. Here
it shows that Macbeth changes his mind about the murder of King Duncan, and his wife begins
to tell him bad things to pressure him. “She cornfully accuses him of cowardice and tells him that
a true man would never back out of a commitment. She reassures him of success and explains
her plan”. (Shakespeare 1. 7. 364). When she noticed that Macbeth was having a second thought

about the murderous plan she starts to tell him that if he does not murder the King he is a
coward.
Lady Macbeth is convinced that MAcbeth is going to regret if he does not kill King
Duncan. Lady Macbeth says: “Wouldst thou have that which thou esteem’st the ornament of life,
and live a coward in thine own esteem, Letting “I dare not” wait upon “I would, ” like the poor
cat i’ th’ adage?”. (Shakespeare 1, 7. 365). She is telling her that he has to be “brave” that this
was a unique opportunity, and he can not waste it. Macbeth is a weak man when he is with his
wife, even though he is a warrior. For Lady Macbeth is easy to manipulate him.
Lady Macbeth pressures Macbeth in a hard way, she knows exactly what to say to
convince him to murder the King, and not just that, she wants to control him. She knows that
Macbeth has the ambition, but not the nerve to do it, the only thing that she needs to do is
pressure him. Lady Macbeth says: “Glamis thou art, and Cawdor; and shalt be What thou art
promised. Yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness To catch the
nearest way: thou wouldst be great, Art not without ambition, but without The illness should
attend it”. (Shakespeare 1. 5. 361). This shows that Lady Macbeth is capable to convince
Macbeth to do horrible things just to become King.
Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth that she is going to take care of everything, he does not have
to worry about nothing . Then she gave him instructions of how he has to act in front of
everybody so he do not look suspicious. Lady Macbeth says: “He that’s coming Must be
provided for; and you shall put This night’s great business into my dispatch, Which shall to all
our nights and days to come Give solely sovereign sway and masterdom....Keep your head up
and look calm. If your expression changes it will arouse suspicion. Leave all the rest to me”.
(Shakespeare 1. 5. 362-363). It shows how she manipulates him in everything, she tell him how

he has to act , and make things, she planed all. He felt pressure, when the ambition took power
over him, he got out of his mind, all of this was the reason of the downfall of Macbeth.
When the three witches told Macbeth about the prophecy he started thinking of it and
then sends a letter to his wife talking about the prophecy. Lady Macbeth’s thoughts immediately
were to murder King Duncan. She wanted the prophecy to become true. The story continues
showing how Lady Macbeth convince Macbeth to murder the King. Even though Macbeth has
ambition, his heart is pure and kind. Then he was not able to handle all the evil things he had
done. People can not let others influence them because we can have bad consequences, no matter
who is the person who influences, people have to act by who they are. Sometimes ambition can
make people do bad stuff. No matter who gets hurt.
