All praise to Allah SWT, Lord of the world the most gracious and the most
merciful, for blessing in giving me the spirit, so that this thesis could be
accomplished which is entitled “An Analysis on Writing Exercises in “Look
Ahead 1” English Course Book for Tenth Grade of Senior High School Students
Based on KTSP at SMAN 7 Mataram ''. This thesis is presented to fulfill one of
the requirements in accomplishing the S-1 English Education Program of Teacher
Training and Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education
Muhammadiyah University of Mataram.
On this occasion, with great humility, the writer would like to thank you to
all of those who have given me help and guidance so that this thesis can be
finished.

English Course Book for Tenth Grade of Senior High School Student Based on
KTSP 2006 at SMAN 7 Mataram. English Language Education University of
Muhammadiyah Mataram.2018.

Exercises are important to enable students to master English skill,


especially writing. When giving exercises the teacher should examine whether
exercises are relevant or not with some aspect considered in writing exercise. In
this thesis, the writer focus on analysing the writing exercises present in Look
Ahead 1 (English Course Book for Senior High School Student Year X). It is an
English course book for the tenth grade students of senior high school. The
objective of this study is to evaluate writing exercises in Look Ahead 1 in term of
clear direction, presence of example and types of writing. This study is qualitative
research using content analysis. Subject of this research are 10 writing exercises
which are displayed in Look Ahead 1. The data were collected from the course
book of Look Ahead 1 (English Course Book for Senior Hight School Students
Year X) published by Erlangga. From the analysis the writer found that in term of
clear direction all clear direction tests, cooperation tests, maching tests,
completing tests, instruction test, attentive test in term of presence of example and
types of writing, some of the writing exercises is demanded in writing based on
KTSP curriculum of Senior Hight School Grade X.
