    Analog input signal indication (PVI function block).
    Trends CENTUM VP
    Trend is a graph of the change in the process variable over time.

    Input Indicator Block (PVI) converts the raw analog input (RAW) value to a process variable (PV), in accordance
    with a given scale in engineering units.

    Parameters of the PVI block:


    scale and boundary settings
    Parameter Title
    SH Upper bound of PV scale
    SL The lower limit of the PV scale
    HH High-high alarm limit setting
    Ll Low-Low Alarm Limit Setpoint
    PH High Alarm Limit Setpoint
    PL Low Alarm Limit Setpoint

    The task
    Apply a PVI block to indicate an analog input pressure signal in the range of 0-40 meters of water column.

    Deal with engineering units and emergency messages.

    Configure a pressure trend window and simulate ramp input.

    Decision
    1 Open the IOM editor:
    FCS0101> IOM> NODE1> 1AAI141-S

    2 Set the symbolic name for the analog input:


    Label: %% WATER_PRESSURE

    3 Open the Control Drawing control scheme editor:


    FCS0101> FUNCTION_BLOCK> DR0002

    4 Add Link Block> PIO and bind to it an analog input named %% WATER_PRESSURE

    5 Add a PVI function block with the tag name TREND

    6 We connect blocks with a line of communication

    7 Open the PVI block editor and go to the INPUT tab.

    8 Set the pressure scale: from 0.0 to 40.0

    9 Character m.vod.st. not listed, so close all editors, open the project properties window and tick the
    Manually Register Engineering Unit Symbol:

    10 Open the symbol editor of engineering units:


    Common> EngUnit
    and add a new symbol at number 12:M H2O:

    11 We return to the choice of the symbol of engineering units and find the symbol in the list. M H2O:

    12 Open Trend Acquisition Pen Assignment Builder:


    Settings Editor : HIS0164> CONFIGURATION> TR0001

    13 We set the data source:


    Acquisition Data: TREND.PV

    There are 16 presets for groups of 8 pens.

    14 We start the test function (simulator of the operator’s station and the DCS controller):
    FCS> Test Function:

    15 Click on the [Wiring Editor] button.


    In the linker that opens, we submit the value of the IncDec function (saw) to the TREND.IN function block

    TREND terminal.
    Set the upper limit: Gain = 100.0 Set the
    lower limit: Bias = 0.0
    Set the cycle time: Cycle = 100 seconds

    16 Save the settings of the simulator in the file WIRE01.wrs

    17 Download the settings in the simulator:


    File> Download

    18 Click the [Wiring Operations] button

    19 Select the line number 1 with the cursor.

    20 Press the [Continuous Execution] button.


    The STOP status changes to CONTEXEC.

    21 Open the DR0002 control circuit status window:

    22 We right-click on the PVI block and select the Tuning item from the context menu:

    23 Set the boundary settings via the tuning panel of the TREND block:
    HH = 35.0
    PH = 30.0
    PL = 10.0
    LL = 5.0

    24 Press the [Process alarm] button - the process crashes window opens:

    25 Right-click on any alarm message and select the Trend item in the context menu:
