    METHODS OF RESEARCH

    This chapter presents the methods and procedures of research applied to

    gather the needed data. The research design and methods utilized in this study,

    the formulation of the survey questionnaire and statistical treatment of data are

    RESEARCH DESIGN

    This research utilized the Descriptive Method of research for processing all

    the data and information gathered to determine The Hurdles to a Healthier 9th

    Graders of Junior High School of SJCNI.

    RESPONDENT

    The researcher utilized the study on how the student’s health affect their

    academic performance.
    SAMPLING TECHNIQUES

    The researcher employed the Purposive Sampling technique in selecting the

    respondents of the study.

    INSTRUMENTS USED

    To gather the necessary data, the researcher will utilize the following data

    gathering instruments:

    Questionnaire

    This was the main source of the data gathering instrument. It contained

    set of specific questions to draw specific response from the respondents to answer

    the problems stated in the first chapter.

    CONSTRUCTION OF THE INSTRUMENT

    The researcher will draft the questionnaire based on the stated problems in

    first chapter and will confer with her research teacher for comments.
    VALIDATION OF THE INSTRUMENT

    The researcher will try the instruments to four (4) students who are not

    among the sample respondents. The purpose of the try-out is to find out the

    capacity of the tool to generate the needed answers to the stated problems.

    ADMINISTRATION AND RETRIEVAL

    The researcher will personally administer and retrieve the instrument to and

    from the target respondents, after he had secured permission from the

    __________of the __________.

    STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA

    The following statistical tools will be employed to compute the

    gathered data:

    Frequency and Percentage Distribution

    This will be used to relate a part to a whole. This is a numerical

    analysis especially on frequency distribution:


    Formula:

    P = f x 100

    Where:

    P =percentage f = frequency n = total number of respondents

    Weighted mean

    This will be utilized in computing the data revealed by the question

    on the relevance of the employees’ practice of ethical standards in pursuing quality

    education, building positive image of the school, and developing sound human

    relationship with colleagues.

    Formula:

    WM = ∑fx

    Where:
    WM = weighted mean

    ∑ fx = summation of the products of the frequencies and weight

    N = total number of respondents

    Weighted Mean Interpretation

    4.50 - 5.00 5 - Very Highly Relevant (VHR)

    3.50 - 4.49 4 - Highly Relevant (HR)

    2.50 - 3.49 3 - Moderately Relevant (MR)

    1.59 - 2.49 2 - Irrelevant (I)

    1.00 - 1.49 1 - Very Irrelevant (VI)

    Ranking

    This was used to determine the arrangement of responses for a given

    degree of importance as perceived by the respondents.
