Rescue Foundation
(Rescueing girls from forced prostitution across India)
Although there are laws against sex-trade, brothels continue to flourish. As a business centre,
Metropolitant cities like Mumbai & Delhi attracts a lot of migrant population that includes men and
women. Migrant men create the market for commercial sex. Whereas young girls and women are
deceived and trapped in prostitution rings.
Rescue Foundation works to protect girls and women by extensive involvement at every stage. From
investigation and rescuing victims to the prosecution of culprits. However, our involvement doesn’t stop
there. We also ensure proper health care, rehabilitation and reintegration of the victims.
The Rescue Foundation was established by Mr. Balkrishna Acharya and Mrs. Triveni Acharya in 2000.
Over the years, the foundation has grown from strength to strength with:
B.) STATISTICS:
Every year RF rescue 300 girls (avg)
In our three shelter home across Maharashtra we take care/rehabilitate 500+ girls avg.
Till today we have rescued 7000+ girls and more then 10000+ girls stayed at our shelter home
Annexure III
Close to 80% of the human trafficking across the world is done for sexual exploitation and the
rest is for bonded labor and India is considered as the hub of this crime in Asia.
As per the statistics of the government – in every eight minutes a child goes missing in our
country. In 2011 about 35,000 children were reported missing and more than 11,000 out of these
were from West Bengal. Further, it is assumed that only 30% of the total cases are reported, so
the actual number is pretty high.
Approximately 75-80% of human trafficking is for sex. There are more human slaves in the
world today than ever before in history.
There are an estimated 27 million adults and 13 million children around the world who are
victims of human trafficking.

C.) CHALLENGES:
We take care of 500+ girls in a yearr across three shelter homes. We take care of all their basic
needs like Health Care, Food & Nutrition, Sanitation, Legal Help, Repatriation, apart from that
we also take care of mentally, physically and HIV Positive girls. Cost to take care of all of these
girls is massive, hence fund is one of our biggest challenges.
Another major challlanges we face is human resources, in an organization like where risk to life
is high we hardly get people working with us at a average salary, hence capacity building is also
one of our biggest challenge.
D.) POTENTIAL:
The project has immense potential to give protective umbrella by giving life filled with dignity to the
girls rescued from raids conducted across India. Ensure they are empowered by giving them quality
rehabilitation, Spreading fear into the minds of perpetrataors.
They are provided with free and safe accommodation and healthy nutrition.
They receive complete free health care so they become ultimately healthy.
Annexure III
