The Fauquier Education Farm
About the Farm
2018 was another very successful year for the Fauquier Education Farm. As always, our success is
dependent on three beautiful words, “strong community support”. The generosity and excitement
shown by the community support of the Education Farm is a wonderful thing to be a part. From
our volunteers, donors, class participants, kids and adults who and come to the farm to learn
and our volunteer Board of Directors, everyone involved has helped to make numerous positive
impacts within our region.
Despite the incredible rainfall in 2018, we were still able to donate a total of 55,024 pounds of
fresh, high quality produce to food banks in Fauquier, Rappahannock, Culpeper and Prince
William counties. This makes 2018 our second highest donation total, which isn’t too bad given
some seriously adverse weather.
Our volunteers and donors continue to be amazing. 2018 saw a substantial upswing in volunteer
numbers. Folks showed up as individuals, as families, as groups and organizations such as 4H
clubs, Scouts of every age and gender, church groups, civic groups, and notably in 2018 we saw
a big increase in offices deciding to volunteer together with their employers giving them paid
time to come volunteer, freely give of themselves by adding their sweat to this community effort.
2018 also saw a big increase in our donation levels during the Give Local Piedmont day of giving.
Additionally, our Feast from the Field fundraising dinner was a big success. Every donation helps
us make a huge impact in our community. Just as important as the individual donations are the
numerous foundations that have become important partners in our success. Through grants and
direct donations these funding partners have enabled the Fauquier Education Farm to remain a
stable healthy organization.
Fortunately, our Board of Directors has been quietly plugging away at aiding that growth in our
ability to serve. The Board has put in long hours to formalize policies and procedures to enhance
our ability to be transparent and accountable with the funds that have been entrusted to us. They
are working just as hard at mapping out a clear and mindful path as we build on our previous
success and look for opportunities to grow as an organization.
It is a humbling privilege to be part of this community effort. Our deepest heartfelt thanks go out
to everyone who has made it happen.
Many local businesses are partnering together to make this event possible and to raise funds for
one of our important community partners. Please mark your calendars and join us July 27th
for this wonderful community event.
