Introduction

Topic: Animal Communication


Attention statement: Have you ever wondered how ants follow
invisible trails leading to food? What birds are saying to one
another when they chirp outside your window?
In my speech, I’m going to inform you 2 different types of animal
communication which are auditory signals and tactile signals,
followed by the importance of animal communication.

Body:
1. (definition) Tactile communication refers to animals
communicate through the sense of touch. Tactile signals are
fairly common in insects. (examples) For instance, a
honeybee forager that's found a food source will perform
waggle dance to indicate the location of the food. Since this
dance is done in darkness inside the nest, the other bees
interpret it largely through touch.
2. (definition) Besides, Auditory communication refers to
communication based on sound. Auditory communication is
particularly important in birds.However,it is also used by non-
birds animals.(For an example) Monkeys cry out a warning
when a predator is near, informing the other members to
escape. Vervet monkeys even have different calls to indicate
different predators.

3. Animal communication is important in caring for the young.


For an example, newborn puppies knead on their mother’s
mammary glands so that milk is produced.
4. Animal communication is important in coordinating group
behaviors such as defensive behaviors. As mentioned,
monkey gives an alarm call upon spotting a predator

Conclusion:
In conclusion, I have informed you of the types of animal
communication and importance of animal communications.
