MY REFLECTIONS/INSIGHTS
=====================================================================================================================
1. Have you discovered your dominant Philosophy of Education? How do you feel after knowing it?
Is your Philosophy or firm belief of education reflected in what you are doing as a future
teacher?

My dominant Philosophy of Education is Progressivism

The Practices that I do as a student and future teacher that reflect my philosophy are: (describe
in sentences)
 I always relate and reflect the relevance of what I am studying to the world outside the

classroom which is waiting for me.

 I engage myself in an active participation in the teaching-learning process

 I believe that social interaction plays a great role in my learning.

The practices that I will do, that will reflect my Philosophy of Education will be: (describe in
sentences)
 I will relate the lessons I will teach with my future students to its connection to the real-

world they will face.

 I will create a learning environment which will encourage my future students to be

engaged in active participation.

 I will provide opportunities for social interactions to help them in their learning

processes.

2. In your observations, does an experienced teacher practice what they believe in (philosophy of
education) in actual teaching? If yes, describe the instance/episode. If No, what could be the
reason?

As we have observed, so far, the teacher practiced the dominant philosophy we have seen
from the test. They were both essentialist and we have seen how they were more teacher-centered
since they do not provide so much experiential activities but rather they let their students sit on their
desks and listen to them, they make them copy whatever is written in the board for their lectures,
they emphasize self-discipline, they emphasize the importance of mastery of the topics and the
results of their exams and quizzes as determinants of their progress and mastery of the course.
