Annotated Bibliography

Writing this essay, I will try to answer the question on the difference’s food is prepared in

a restaurant for celiac/gluten free patients versus non celiac/gluten free patients. I want to know

why food is processed or prepared differently and what that difference is really doing to our

bodies. Some family members are on a gluten free diet due to health issues, I want to know what

gluten does to them and why U.S. food has so much gluten in it?

This article explains what celiac disease is and how it works. The website states that 1%

of the US population is diagnosed with celiac disease so it is an uncommon disease. I kept

scrolling and looking for more information like the one above and came across another statement

which I knew it was already true but now I have a resource to back it up. There are no known

medical treatments to cure celiac disease or make it manageable for people who have it.

The purpose of making this website and writing the article is to help get the information

of celiac disease out to the rest of the population that do not know anything about it. The

audience for this article is the population that does not know much about celiac disease to get

them more information and understand celiac disease. This website was created in 2003 to help

advocate for celiac disease patients and they have helped ever since to get people on track to

know what to do when you are celiac.

On the website it does not state the writer because it is a foundation called National

Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA). This is a reliable source because the website is to

advocate for celiac patients and get the information out, so more people understand. I have talked

to my mother and my boyfriends’ mother which are both gluten free, they have both talked to

doctors that know a ton on this and this is the same information they have said before. The only

difference is now I have a resource to back it up and not just their word.

This article gave a ton of useful information that I will be able to use in my paper. I will

discuss the background information on celiac disease which this has a ton of information just

explaining the small things about celiac disease. It will help with answer questions on how celiac

disease works and what celiac disease does to the human body.

This article I found in the Sinclair library database, which the article was very useful and

gave me some more knowledge on celiac disease. I believe this article will be very helpful while

writing my paper because it explains the types of tests done on celiac patients. They worked with

other hospitals to try to get down to the bottom of this mysterious celiac disease. Since celiac

disease can be deadly people with celiac have to learn to stay away from food with wheat in it

because there is no cure for it.

The purpose of this article is to let readers know what celiac disease is and how they are

trying their best to fix the issues and get a cure for this possible deadly disease. The audience is

for medical students to know there are tests going on to find a cure and wanting people to help

with these tests. This was written in the beginning of 2019, because it is a disease that people are

just finding out about, so more articles are being written about it and more tests are being done.

The author is Yasemin Galperin, I believe the author is a reliable source because the

article is written amazingly. I have had multiple discussions with my boyfriends’ mother, and she

has gone through a ton of tests to get to where she is and has gotten diagnosed right in the first

place. I know this source is reliable because I have the family that has talked to doctors and

discussed these issues with professionals.

The article gave useful information that I could easily use for my paper. While writing

this research paper, I will use this information from this article because it gives me examples of

tests done for celiac disease.

This article I looked up was to sell a book that this guy had published. This article

explains part of his book and how he struggled to live with celiac disease. It explains that celiac

disease is a huge struggle for people because you must stay away from certain foods, which is

extremely hard when the US has gluten everywhere.

The purpose of creating this book was to help other celiac patients to overcome their

struggles with the disease and know they are not the only ones out there struggling with it. The

book is a great way to get the information out to others, the only thing wrong is, books are not

around. The audience is people with celiac disease or people that do not know as much about

celiac disease. He wants to get the information out to as many people as possible and get them

the right information, not the wrong information.

The author of this book and website goes by the name of Gluten Dude, which he has been

on the gluten free diet since 2007. He started his blog online in October of 2011, which since

then he has written 650 articles over his struggles with having celiac and being gluten free. Since

he goes through his own struggles in life, I believe he is very helpful because it is a good source.

My mother and boyfriends’ mother go through tons of struggles in life, so I understand what he

goes through watching them.

The article gives really good information which I can use because he goes through his

own personal struggles daily. I really want to buy his book for this research, and I want to

understand more about celiac disease for my mother and my boyfriend’s mother. I know a little

bit here and there about celiac disease and how they struggle each day, I wish I could learn more

for them.

This article explains how celiac disease impacts adults and how their life quality is

affected. I believe this article will help a ton because it explains the struggles of everyday

survivors with celiac disease. People with celiac disease go through struggles everyday because

they hurt all over when they have one little bite of gluten.

The purpose of this article is to explain the everyday struggles that celiac patients must

go through because life is a little harder for people with celiac disease. People must go to certain

restaurants because gluten free menus are not a thing at every restaurant. It gets easier overtime

and when you have articles that explain you are not the only one going through this struggle.

The author is Kelly Grace which explains the struggles of everyday celiac patients go

through. She also explains the impact of celiac disease with the quality of life because having a

disease your quality of life is brought down. The audience she is trying to reach is the people

with celiac because she wants to let them know they are not the only ones going through these

same struggles.

I believe this article will be helpful for writing my paper here soon, because it had really

good information throughout it. Kelly is a good author and makes good points throughout the

article and how celiac is affecting their quality of life.

This article explains again how celiac disease works and what celiac disease is. The

article states the symptoms of celiac disease so people know what to look for if they believe they

might have it. I liked this article because it gave useful information throughout it.

The purpose of this article is to get the information needed out to people that do not know

as much as other about celiac disease. People that may start to have feelings they have celiac

disease will know where to look on this website and they can find useful information explaining

things about celiac disease. The audience of this website is people with celiac disease to learn

more or people without celiac disease to learn more.

The author is Jessica Groom, which she gives useful information. Her article was very

helpful to my mother and my boyfriend’s mother because they saw the website, and both said

they have used it before. The website is used by a bunch of people with celiac disease and new

beginners with celiac disease. The website is easy to use and very helpful information.

The information given on the website will be helpful when writing this paper. It gave

information on understanding celiac disease and what to do when you have it. I believe I can use

this information in my paper because she answers some questions I had about celiac disease in

her article.

I really liked this article because it made some good points on how people are usually

diagnosed with celiac disease. This article states that people usually live part of their life

misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all, because there are 200 symptoms a person can show while

having celiac.

The purpose of this article is to show the difference between a right diagnosed celiac

person versus a wrong diagnosed celiac patient. Celiac is a harder disease to see the symptoms

and automatically know what it is. Doctors have struggled for years trying to figure out what’s

wrong with some patients only come to find out that if they go on a special diet, they will feel

better.

The author is Premier Health, which is a hospital. Knowing they are a medical hospital

center then I know most likely their information on this news article is correct and backed up by

tests done. The information given in the article has helped so many people because they go to the

doctors and can never find a cure for it. I believe if more articles were to come out like this it

could reach the audience that need to know more about celiac disease and reach even farther to

get everyone to know more about it.

The information given in this article will be helpful for my paper because the article

answers some of my own questions I had about celiac disease. Celiac disease is a disease that

many people do not know about and they need to become more aware to help others out around

their community with the disease.

is very useful information that many people go to the website to know and learn more about

The purpose of this article is to get as much information out to people, so they know what

to look for. The audience for the article is people with celiac disease or people that do not know

as much about celiac disease, so they can learn more about it.

The author is unknown so it might be written as a group. I think whoever wrote this

article made very good points and knew what they were talking about. I could definitely take

some very useful information from this article to use in my paper.

This article will be very useful to my paper because it made some great points about

gluten intolerance and gluten free on the rise. I believe since it is a newer disease then more

people are learning about celiac and coming to realize they might have this.
