    Text: Translation:
    Ich war bei Chloen ganz allein, I was alone with Chloe,
    Und küssen wollt' ich sie. and wanted to kiss her;
    Jedoch sie sprach, sie würde schrein, but she said that she would scream -
    Es sei vergebne Müh! it would be a futile attempt.

    Ich wagt' es doch und küßte sie, Yet I dared, and kissed her
    Trotz ihrer Gegenwehr. despite her resistance.
    Und schrie sie nicht? Jawohl, sie schrie -- And did she not scream? Oh yes, she did;
    Doch lange hinterher. but not until long afterward.

    Fun Fact: Der Kuss was the last song to be written and published by Ludwig Beethoven.
