One experience I will never forget from my time in the army is the time
we had to fight in an unknown land. We thought that we were the first
ones to ever set foot there, but we were very wrong. Once night fell we
got ambushed by a large group of locals. I was not on watch that night
so I woke up to the sounds of steel on steel and the screams of my
comrades. One of the locals got to me before I had the chance to get
up and get my axe. He put a spear right through my shoulder and
threw me on the ground. I couldn't defend myself and I thought that my
time had come. I had my eyes closed when I felt the pressure on the
spear lighten. I opened them again and there was one of my comrades,
all covered in blood. He yelled at me to get up and help him to defend
the others. Because of this, I learned to never give up on someone and
will I never leave anyone behind.
After I left the army I became a mercenary. Fighting is the only thing I
truly excel at. I never learned another craft so this was a very natural
choice for me. I don't necessarily take jobs that require someone to be
killed. Most of the time I'm hired to ensure the safety of others.
