BABATNGON

Babatngon is a 4th class municipality in the province of Leyte. Its population as determined by the 2015
Census was 27,797.

Babatngon is located in the northern part of the island of Leyte, along the shore of Carigara Bay. It is
situated on a small plain set in a semicircle of mountain ranges and nestles in the northern mouth of the
San Juanico Strait, which separates Samar from Leyte.

TOURISM ASSETS:

1. BALAY NI TATAY
Location: Brgy Villla Magsaysay, Babatngon, Leyte

Description: Balay ni Tatay is an organic farm with resort amenities approximately 20 k away from
Tacloban City. It is suitable for garden wedding, team building, swimming, farm tour, and other
special occasions.

Directions: It takes approximately 25-30 mins to travel from Tacloban City to Balay ni Tatay,
depending on your vehicle. For commuters, ride a public utility jeepney at the New Bus Terminal
Abucay) and inform beforehand the driver to drop you off along the Villa Magsaysay, specifically
at the entrance way to Balay ni Tatay where tricycles/habal-habal (motorcycles for hire) are
positioned. Then, ride a tricycle/habal-habal taking 5 minute-travel from the entrance to the
resort.

2. MT. SINAI GARDEN---KARAOKE & RESTAURANT


Location: Brgy. District 3, Poblacion, Babatngon, Leyte

Description: It is a Filipino restaurant located at the foot of Mt. Sinai Ridge approximately 28
kilometers away from Tacloban City. Its casual dining and karaoke services open on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays, 3:00PM – 10:00 PM and on Fridays to Sundays, 10:00am-10:00pm. Customers and
tourists may opt to take 286 steps to climb to the top of the ridge.
Directions: Depending on the vehicles used, it takes approximately 40 minutes (32 kilometers
away from Tacloban City) to travel from Tacloban City to Mt. Sinai Garden---Karaoke & Restaurant.
From Tacloban, travel ahead until you reach San Juanico crossroad then go straight towards
northwest taking the Tacloban-Babatngon road. Once you are heading along Tacloban-Babatngon
Road, drive down slowly looking to right and find Juan Tismo National High School and you will
arrive near at the Mt. Sinai Ridge Garden---Karaoke & Restaurant. For commuters, ride a public
utility jeepney at the New Bus Terminal Abucay) and inform beforehand the driver to drop you
off at Brgy. Poblacion District III along the Tacloban-Babatngon road near the Juan Tismo National
High School.

3. BUSAY FALLS
Location: Brgy. Dist. 3, Babatngon, Leyte

Description: Busay Falls, located at Brgy. Dist. 3, Babatngon, Leyte with a distance of 3km. south
from town proper by land, owned by LGU Babatngon. It was conceived in 1983 during the time of
Mayor Jesus A. Pedo. Busay Falls is a three-tiered catarack which is a n attraction for picnickers,
travelers, and tourists who flock to Babatngon during the summer months. A massive bowl of
solid, moss-covered rock catches the cool waters of the third fall. It is a nice place to have a cool
refreshing shower with friends and family or simply a place where you can relax and have time
for yourself.

Directions: For commuters, ride a public utility jeep from New Bus Terminal (Abucay) for 30-40
mins until you reach BFAR Babatngon (P30). From there, ride a habal-habal (motorcycle for hire)
for 5-10 mins to Busay Falls Resort (P20).

 Head southeast of Tacloban (33m)
 Turn right toward Santa Fe - Tacloban Rd/Tigbao-Pulak-Sta Fe Rd (66m)
 Turn left toward Santa Fe - Tacloban Rd/Tigbao-Pulak-Sta Fe Rd (29m)
 Turn left onto Santa Fe - Tacloban Rd/Tigbao-Pulak-Sta Fe Rd (1.1 km)
 Turn left onto Pan-Philippine Hwy/AH26 (4.4 km)
 Continue straight onto Tacloban City - Babatngon Rd (22 km)
 Turn left (BFAR Babatngon) (1km)
 Busay Falls will be on right.

4. TULAAN BEACH
Location: Sitio Tulaan, Barangay Bacong, Babatngon, Leyte
Description: Tulaan Beach is in Babatngon, Leyte, just 30 to 40 minutes away from Tacloban.
Tulaan beach is a lake-like beach of gray pebbles marbled with different patterns. Most of its
waters are surrounded by land, which can explain their lake-like calmness. Tulaan’s waters are
encircled by part of Leyte and Biliran.
Directions: For commuters, ride a public utility jeep from New Bus Terminal Abucay, Tacloban for
30-40 mins to Babatngon’s town proper (P30). From Babatngon’s town proper, ride a habal-habal
(motorcycle for hire) for 10-15 mins to Tulaan Beach (P50).

BARUGO
Barugo, is a 4th class municipality in the province of Leyte. Its population as determined by the 2015
Census was 32,745.
Barugo is a town in the northern coastal part of Leyte facing Carigara Bay, 50 kilometres (31 mi) north-
west of Tacloban City.

TOURISM ASSETS:

1. ST. JOSEPH PARISH-BARUGO

Location: Rizal St., Poblacion District III, Barugo, Leyte

Description: It is a Roman Catholic church located at in the town of Barugo,Leyte. It is under the
Archdiocese of Palo.

Directions: For commuters, ride a public utility jeep/van/bus from Robinsons Place Tacloban
Terminal for approximately 60 minutes to St. Parish Church-Barugo. Inform beforehand the
driver to drop you off at Ponferrada St. near to St. Joseph Parish Plaza.

For private vehicles from Tacloban:

 From Robinsons Place Tacloban Terminal, head south on Tabuan National Highway/
Tacloban-Baybay S Road (continue to follow Tacloban-Baybay S Road)
 Turn right after Metrobank ATM (on the right)---(continue to follow Eastern Nautical
Highway)
 Turn right
 Turn right onto Bagahupi-Babatngon-Sta Cruz-Barugo-Carigara Road
 Turn left onto Ponferrada St.
 Turn right onto Rizal St.
 St. Joseph Parish will be on the right.
