I) Look at the example of KET Reading and Writing Part 1.

II) What’s in Reading and Writing Part 1?

In this part, there are 6 notices or short messages to read. For example: text messages, emails, notices,
signs, postcards, etc.

III) What do I have to do?

You have to answer 6 multiple choice questions about each text.

TIPS
1. Look at all the pictures and think about where you might see them.

 Where can you find this picture? _______________________________________________


 Is it a sign, an email, a notice, a message, an advert? _______________________________

2. Think about the purpose of the text.

 What is the purpose of that picture? ________________________________________________

3. Read all the options carefully. Think about the meaning of each one.

 Match the options to their meanings.

A The ice cream shop is open for only 2 hours. The offer is 2 x 1 on ice cream.

B Two ice creams will cost the same as one. Get free ice creams since 12:00p.m to 7:00 p.m.

C You can get free ice creams all afternoon. The shop is open just for a couple of hours.

4. Remember: don’t just choose an option because it has the same words or ideas from the text.
