Course Description:
Leaders provide vision. They build forward, create change and make the future achievable. A good
Safety Leader has a combination of innate talent and developed skills in the wider field on
Occupational Safety and Health including Loss Control Management. Loss Control Management
refers to the process of managing the level of safety risk within a workplace.
This 40-hour course is designed to provide practical knowledge and techniques to enable Safety
Leaders at all levels to continually improve their organization's safety performance. It will address
current management systems thinking as well as various issues that influence the effective safety
implementation. This course will include risk management techniques that seek to reduce the
possibility that a loss will occur and reduce the severity of those that do occur. A loss control
program should help Safety Leaders reduce claims and losses through safety and risk management
information and services.
This is an advanced OHS course and is recommended for those who already finished the Basic
Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Course or the Construction Occupational Safety and
Health (COSH) Course. This course contains 21 customized modules specially designed for Safety
Leaders. Topics focused mainly in Safety leadership, Causes, Effects and Control of Loss, Effective
Communication – Personal and Group Communication, Managing Control of Loss, Planned
Inspections, Planned Job Observation, Practical Risk Assessment and Control, Incident and Accident
Investigation and Analysis, Problem Solving Techniques, Environmental Management, Ergonomics
and Other Occupational Health, Managing Troubled Employees and Stress Management, Behavior
Based Safety – Motivation and Behavior, Competency Development and Training, Waste and
Damage Control, Journey Management, Security Loss Control, Safety Critical Task Analysis,
Emergency Preparedness and Response – Disaster/Crisis Management and Off the Job Safety.

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

• Enhance and Develop good Safety Leadership and Personal and Group Communication Skills
• Understands the Risks, Causes and effects of Loss control and effectively control the loss

• Conduct and Manage Planned Inspections, and Planned Job Observation,


• Create a Critical Task Analysis and Procedures
• Appreciate the Importance of developing competency to manage the losses
• Know how to manage Materials and Services
• Create a Practical Risk Assessment and Control
• Supervise Incident and Accident Investigation, Analysis, Recall and Imaging
• Learn to manage Environmental Issues through proper Management, Waste and Damage
Control
• Manage Ergonomics Issues at Work Effectively
• Assist Troubled Employees and Manage Stress at Work
• Understand the importance of Behavior Based Safety through proper motivation and promotion
of safety culture at work
• Help Workers to Apply Off-Site Safety
• Manage Emergency Preparedness and Response and Disaster & Crisis Management
• Understand and Prepare Journey Management Plan

Training Methodology:
This interactive training course includes the following training methodologies as a percentage of the
total tuition hours:-
30% Lectures
30% Workshops & Work Presentations
20% Case Studies & Practical Exercises
20% Videos & General Discussions
The course instructor may modify the above training methodology before or during the course for
technical reasons with no prior notice to participants.

Course Certificates:
Certificate of Completion will be given to the student who completed the 5 days prescribed training
and successfully passes the exam

Course Assessment:
Workbook shall be provided to the students and assessment shall be done upon completion of group
and individual practical exercises.
