Teaching Philosophy
About my teaching philosophy, teaching for me is not a job but it is a passion
to share learning, create a new family and also molding a children to become a better
person in the future. Teaching is not about giving knowledge but also imparting good
things and moral values to every student. Teacher is not just a teacher but teacher is
a doctor who treat every children emptiness of everything, teacher is also a architect
who build and mold the students to be physically, mentally, and emotionally stable to
face different problems in life, teacher also is a mother to all his student because
teacher take good care the students and feel them that they are safe and loved.
Teaching for is not just my passion but it is my life though I am not still a teacher
but I possess and imitate the characteristics of a teacher. Being a teacher is not just
easy, every time I had my field study I encounter different problems that the teacher
faced but it made me motivate more to become a teacher in the future because I want
to be a hero to every children. I want to be one of the reason why the children succeed
in their life.

My Analysis
My Reflection
In my field study observation in the class of Ma’am Van I learned a lot of things
about giving assessment to the students. Ma’am Van make sure that the students
understand the lesson before she proceed to next topic. Her strategies and techniques
help me more to understand about what assessment is. Ma’am Van is not just my
cooperating teacher but she is also my mentor because in my 5 days of observing her
class I learn a lot of things from her.

Episode 4 – Product Oriented Assessment
Learning Evidence 6
My Analysis
Product oriented assessment is one way of assessing not just the learnings of
the students but for the students to express their creativity in doing projects. Ma’am
Van told me that if I give a project in must have a criteria which the students to follow
and also in giving projects it is for the students and it must be appropriate to the level
of the students which can help them understand more the lesson in a creative way. As
what Ma’am Van did she collect the projects of her student and arranged it properly in
order for them to appreciate what they do. Ma’am create a small area in the corner of
their classroom just for the beautiful and creative projects of her students.
My Reflection
In reflection of what I’ve observed in Ma’am Van’s classroom I loved the way
she give importance to every project of the students. She valued it so that the students
will also appreciate their works. In the section of Ma’am Van most of her students are
creative in doing their project. I saw different projects from different students that are
so beautiful and real. Giving a product oriented assessment is good in enhancing their
understanding as well as in their unique creativity.
FORM 1 for FS 5
1. List the procedures you follow to correct different types of student work (e.g.
daily papers, homework, tests, projects, etc.)
2. List the methods you use to record student progress (e.g. grade book,
anecdotal motes, progress charts, etc.)
Instead of manual recording most of the teacher their laptops in recording the
grade or the score of the pupils.
In checking the papers the teacher let the students check the papers of their
classmate in doing counterclockwise in order for the teacher to record on time
the score.
After recording the papers the teacher return it to the pupils to avoid stock
papers in his/her desk.
4. What is your schools’ policy for grading and maintaining student records?
Permanent record folders? Subject-related progress charts?
1. The pupils must pass the projects and homework on time to avoid delay of grades.
2. The pupils must pass their school records together with the folder (birth cert, good
moral, ect.).
3. The subject related chart must be presentable and eye catching to the pupils and
it must be arranged properly because it will set as their guide in their lessons to
every subject.
FORM 2 for FS 5
It depends on the student activities they were involved. Some activities needs
attention specially in the process because nowadays pupils are lack of attention during
each classes because of many factors.
2. Have your field study student reviewed all assessment practices discussed
in education course prior to the practice teaching?
Share your Philosophy and practical strategies for the following:
1. How do you score student papers, projects, and written assignments? Are
there certain procedures to follow? Explain.
As a future teacher I will score the students projects with the following criteria;
Cleanliness, Relevant and Creativity. In written assignments I will check if they learn
and study it through oral recitation as what Ma’am Van did. I will not include procedures
in giving score to the pupils projects and assignments as long as they are the one who
do it and the parent or guardian will just guide in order to developed the independent
ability of the student and it must pass on time.
PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT
FORM 4 for FS 5
2. When are the tests given and how are these results files? Who has access
to these records?
3. When low achievers are given separate files or different tests, make sure
your students know what those are and their purposes. If students are
exempted from a test, explain why they are exempted from the test and what
they do in lieu of the test.
TEACHER REFLECTION
JOURNAL ENTRY
What is the most important thing my field study students should understand about
assessment?
Reflective Questions:
1. What has been the most difficult part of the discussion about assessment?
For me it is the instruction that is given in each test items. Some students are
not concern on what they are reading. Identification are mostly difficult type of
assessment.
