A CASINO COMPLEX FOCUSING ON THE APPROACH OF CURVILINEAR

CONTOURS

Gambling has always been a part of our everyday lives, especially us, Filipinos, who are
notably known as enthusiasts of the said activity; be it a serious game to cater high-rollers
or just a mere intent to entertain each other to kill the time. It is a type of leisure, some
may call it plotting a risk; others are just, trying their luck and make the most out of it, that
are undeniably seen with an avalanche of progress throughout the years.

At the present moment, casinos are one of the popular establishments that holds various
sorts of gambling activities. With the rise of today’s lifestyle and technology, everything
shall adhere to the fast, positive developments and that does not spare the world of
gaming industry, especially since competition is highly expected.

Casinos play a key role in the breakthrough of our country’s economy, following merely
behind Singapore, but still too far away from the world’s leading Macau, making
Philippines the third-most well-paid station when it comes to the said industry. Recently,
people from Mainland China have migrated to the Philippines, particularly in Manila, which
homes the best casino/entertainment complexes for two reasons; one for in-demand job
offers and two, for potential investment purposes. Surreal as it seems, this booming
industry helps a lot in boosting our country’s revenue.

The proposed casino complex will be located at Clark, Pampanga, recognized as a

golden city and being the center for promising and flourishing economic activities with a
level that could level Metro Manila. This project aims to have an architectural approach
that will focus on the design psychology of the establishment; to complement both the
users and the structure and to induce a fair benefit from each other, while having the
architectural character of curvilinear contours--- a great technique to pique someone’s
interest, which is mainly the main objective of the structure itself.
VERTICAL CEMETERY APPLYING ZEN ARCHITECTURE

With the rapid growth of population every country is facing over the years, crucial matters
are surfacing in a continuous pace and is seriously getting out of control. Philippines is
no stranger to that. Despite being a small country, its current population of the living nearly
sums up to a hundred ten million. On the other side of the story, deaths to be exact, are
also slowly surpassing the number of the existing no matter how much it expands.

Life expectancy is correlated to impermanence; it is by law of nature to proportionate one

another, with the living would simply perish, and or vice versa. Now that the Philippines
are vastly growing, we also couldn’t ignore the fact that deaths are uncontrollable;
situating everything that adds to the count into the right places are difficult tasks to do.
Therefore, another issue will pop up, and that’s where the problem with space would
come in; availability of spaces is insufficient, causing several anomalies to occur, which
may answer the question why is the ratio of the users and the space allotted from them
are so imbalanced. Also, people are flocking everywhere with their own reasons at
various areas of the country, particularly the cities, making the available space inadequate
to cater both the living and most especially, the dead.

Proposing a vertical cemetery could be of a great help to somehow downscale one of the
several problems that needs to be resolve, including affairs that concerned the dead ones.
The design approach will be focusing on the application of Zen Architecture, which
concentrates on the naturalistic and simplicity of its artful conception, giving the space a
harmonious design; a strong bond between the structure and its sole purpose to perform.
A MODULAR POST-DISASTER PROTOTYPE HOUSING PODS

Calamities are usually created by natural disasters, and we cannot control the damage
brought after causing great havoc. Experiencing catastrophes are traumatizing; different
kinds of problems will arise, and shelters are one of them.

There are a lot of circumstances needed to consider in terms of housing relief, with the
location where to reconstruct as the main problem. One thing is, rebuilding requires a lot
of time especially if the area is in total berserk. Calamity victims needed a place to live
temporarily while the reconstruction takes place. Evacuation centers are not enough to
house all the people affected, considering its lack of facilities, and unable to provide all
the essentials a person have.

A possible solution we can provide is to construct a housing relief system designed to

cater the needs of the victims after the disaster, that can be of use either for a limited
period of time, or maybe into long-term use, like an affordable housing as its alternative
purpose if ever such calamities didn’t occur. A housing prototype that could bring comfort
to the users, at the same time it’s easy to build and practical to use.

The proposed project will be located at Dipaculao, Aurora Province, which is situated on
the coastal part of Central Luzon region; an area that is often visited by typhoons. For its
architectural approach, modular housing concept will be used considering the proposal’s
topographical features and geographical location.
A BIO-PHYSIOTHERAPY INSTITUTE FOR THE DISABLED

Disability is an impairment or complication which affects or limits a person’s ability,

particularly in an individual’s body function and structure. It could be developed right at
birth, or it originates from a severe disease which cause a damaged part of someone’s
body.

When it comes to health care demands, various reports confirmed that people with
disabilities have the greater need for health care services and yet, they are much more
neglected compared to people without disorders in a way that the appropriate services
intended for them are insufficient. As a result, risks that may complicate their health
conditions are slowly increasing.

One of the most effective medical treatment for this kind of conditions are what we called
physiotherapy. It uses techniques that works in a form of physical aspects and it can be
used as an ailment to a large assortment of health disorders without requiring surgery. It
is also an ideal way for helping the disabled to overcome the challenges in their health
condition and improve their mobility performance regardless of what ability they are
lacking in. Also, this kind of therapy is open to people of all ages.

The proposed physiotherapy institute will be situated at Norzagaray, Bulacan. The design
approach used is Bio-Architecture, which can be classified as a healing architectural
method, that performs by utilizing the life force of the building that functions depending
on the geometry forms known as the Sacred Geometry. Using its design principles, it
could help the improvement of the users’ well-being as well as reducing the disorders’
complications in the future.
