Dear Delegates,
On behalf of Indian Institute of Chromatography & Mass
Spectrometry (IICMS), the training arm of Spinco Biotech, it is my
great pleasure to welcome you all for this exciting National
Conference on 'Frontiers in MS Technology and Emerging
Applications'. Chennai, the southern gateway of India, well known
for its cultural activities setting the tone for such even!
Though MS is over 100 years old, it continues to pervade newer
areas of Science. IICMS offers a seamless connectivity between
you and the experts, elevating your knowledge on mass
spectrometry with its conglomeration of experts today both from
industry & academia providing a knowledge sharing platform
towards the application of this universal technique in relevant and
untapped areas.
As you wade through the program, you will realize that the expert
lectures cover the most recent application of mass spectrometry
including regulatory perspectives. Complementing this are over
40 posters on display covering recent applications. I encourage
you to interact with scientists as the mutual discussions can help
you on your scientic quest and also have a glimpse of the most
advanced liquid chromatography instruments displayed.
In this context, I express my gratitude to Prof.P.Balaram,
Dr.S.P.Vasireddi and other speakers who have been kind enough to
participate in this conference given their extremely busy schedule.

Prof. P.Balaram is a dis nguished scien st having done

extensive research on bioorganic chemistry and molecular
biophysics. He has carried out detailed studies on synthesis,

applied MALDI-TOF MS as well ESI-MS technology for
proteins & pep de analysis, in India. He was Director of
Indian Ins tute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and is currently
Professor-Emeritus at the Molecular Biophysics Unit at IISc.

Chemistry from University of Pune & Master's degree
from the Indian Ins tute of Technology, Kanpur

Prof.P.Balaram is a Fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences,
Indian Na onal Science Academy. He has published more
than 400 papers including 4 book chapters and has held
editorial board memberships in many interna onal journals.
He has won many awards and honours such as INSA Medal
for Young Scien sts, SS Bhatnagar award, TWAS Award in
Chemistry, G.D. Birla Award for Scien fic Research and
Padma Shri by the Government of India.

‘Shimadzu – Fast Growing

Leadership in Mass Spectrometry’

Shuzo Maruyama was raised in Osaka, Japan. He

received his BS in Bio Physical Engineering from
Osaka University in 1982. Soon after graduation,
Shuzo Maruyama Shuzo started working for Shimadzu Corporation in
Managing Executive Kyoto Japan, as a R&D Engineer for HPLC products.

Instruments Division series HPLC which were the driving products for
Shimadzu Corporation Shimadzu in analytical instruments business. After

HPLC Business Unit Manager to expand Shimadzu
HPLC business worldwide (2004-2011).
Shuzo was assigned as the President of Shimadzu
Scientific Instruments in USA in 2011 and engaged
in the business development in US for 4 years with
great success. Shuzo worked as well as the
corporate officer of Shimadzu corporation
responsible for Analytical & Measurement Business
in North America. In June 2015, Shuzo was assigned
as Managing Exective Officer and the General
Manager of Analytical & Measurement Division of
Shimadzu Corporation.
