Teaching Points:
1. Concept of tsunami.
2. Causes of tsunami.
Specific Objectives in proper behavioral terms:
1. Define tsunami.
2. Name one event that may cause a tsunami to occur.
3. Say the region that experienced the most tsunami events.
4. List the potential causes of tsunami.
1. Analyze the impact of tsunami and the changes in the earth’s atmosphere.
Introduction:
The teacher will ask a few questions to test the previous knowledge of the students:
A. What are the two types of forces that bring changes on the earth surface?
B. What is endogenic force? Give examples of endogenic force?
C. What happens due to earthquake?
D. How is the effect on the sea level?
After finding that pupils are unable to answer the fourth question. Then the teacher will
say, “Today we will learn about tsunami.”
Presentation:
Tsunami: When large earthquakes occur in ocean areas, the sea floor rises or sinks.
Accordingly massive amount of water on the sea floor also move up or down, and this movement
spreads out in all directions in the ocean. The resulting waves are called tsunamis.
Causes of tsunami: The large ocean wave is caused by sudden motion of the floors,
earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, landslides, glacier calving,
meteorite impacts and other disturbances above or below water, these all have the potential to
generate a tsunami.
