There are many types of FIGURES OF SPEECH. We have already discussed some of them like Idioms,
Alliteration, Onomatopoeia, and Hyperbole. And today, we will discuss the three commonly used figures of speech.
These are the SIMILE, METAPHOR and PERSONIFICATION.
1. SIMILE
A SIMILE is a comparison of two unlike objects with the use of “like” or “as” .
2. METAPHOR
3. PERSONIFICATION
When you speak of things as though they were persons, you are using personification. Personification is giving
human qualities to objects or ideas.
An example may be,
• The pizza slice dances with the music.
“My teddy bear gave me a hug.”
