The Times of India (TOI) is the third largest newspaper
in India by circulation and largest selling English-
language daily in the world. It is the oldest English
newspaper in India still in circulation. It was first issued
as THE BOMBAY TIMES AND JOURNAL OF
COMMERCE on 3rd November 1838. It was published
on Wednesdays and Saturdays until 1850 after which it
became a daily newspaper.

The Hindu is an Indian newspaper that started as a
weekly in 1878 and became a daily in 1889. In 1995, it
became the first Indian newspaper to offer an online
edition. It was founded in Madras on 20 September
1878 as a weekly newspaper, by six people consisting
of 4 law students:- T.T.Rangacharya, P.V.Rangacharya,
D. Kesava Rao Pantulu and N. Subba Rao Pantulu, and
led by G.Subramania Iyer and M. Veeraraghavacharyar.

Hindustan Times was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi.
It was founded in 1924 by Sunder Singh Lyallpuri,
founder-father of the Akali movement and the
Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab Province. S Mangal
Singh Gill (Tesildar) and S. Chanchal Singh (Jandiala,
Jalandhar) were made in charge of the newspaper.

The New Indian Express was founded in 1932 as The
Indian Express, under the ownership of Chennai-based
P. Varadarajulu Naidu. In 1991, following the death of
owner Ramnath Goenka, his family split the group into
two companies. Initially, the two groups shared the
Indian Express title, as well as editorial and other
resources. But on 13 August 1999, the northern
editions, headquartered in Mumbai, retained the Indian
Express moniker, while the southern editions became
The New Indian Express. Today, the two newspapers
and companies are separate entities.

Navbharat Times (NBT) is one of the largest
circulated as well as largest read Hindi newspapers of
Delhi and Mumbai and Lucknow. It is from the stable
of Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd (BCCL), which also
publishes other dailies including The Times of India,
The Economic Times, Maharashtra Times and also
magazines such as Filmfare and Femina. NBT is one
of the oldest product of the BCCL group.

Punjab Kesari was established by Lala Jagat Narain and
later on his elder son Romesh Chander took over the
reins. However, during the days of terrorism in Punjab,
both were assassinated, in 1981 and 1984 respectively.
During those days of terrorism, Punjab Kesari
continued to work against terrorism. The management
also established Shaheed Parivar Fund (martyrs' welfare
fund) to provide help to the terrorism-affected families.

Dainik Bhaskar was launched in 1948 to fulfill the need
for a Hindi language daily newspaper. It launched under
the name Subah Savere in Bhopal and Good Morning
India in Gwalior. In 1957, the paper was renamed
Bhaskar Samachar. In 1958, it was renamed Dainik
Bhaskar, meaning "This, along with its rising sun
graphic, was meant to represent a bright future.

newspaper. It was founded by Karpoor Chandra Kulish
in 1956 and published as Rajasthan Patrika in Delhi and
Rajasthan, and as Patrika in 6 other states. As per Indian
Readership Survey 2013 , Rajasthan Patrika emerged as
the fourth most-read Hindi language newspaper in
India, and Patrika emerged sixth. Rajasthan Patrika was
founded by Karpoor Chandra Kulish on 7 March 1956.
