Answer no.

1: Basecamp was successful because of quite a number of reasons, essentially pertaining to

its marketing mix strategy. Basecamp identified six core things every group needs to their best work
together. Its tools were flexible in the sense that they could be mixed and matched for a given project. It
always strived to provide tools for a more humane form of project management. The projects didn’t
only pertain to web development but also to different fields like home development, family projects etc.
Basecamp had focused on common use cases rather than trying to optimize for a specific industry.

Talking about the place, Basecamp was purchased and used through a web interface without any
bounded model and without any sales outreach or personal contact to place an order. This way it
allowed for a large number of customers to be covered by smallest teams. It also benefited from its
position in the small business productivity application market. In promotion, basecamp had thousands
of readers on its web properties and access to third party media which helped it win customers among
other software companies. For price, each product release featured a different pricing scheme which
helped them eventually. The firm’s marketing approach was indeed different from other software
corporations and it was helpful for them in terms of gaining popularity.
