This document is an abstract for a minor thesis on the effect of health education on the anxiety levels of pre-operative patients in Melati's Room at the General Hospital of Kendari in 2017. An early survey of 10 pre-operative patients found that 5 had average anxiety, 3 had low anxiety, and 2 were not anxious. The purpose of the study was to determine if health education affects pre-operative patient anxiety levels. The study used a pre-test post-test design with 21 patients selected via systematic random sampling. Statistical analysis found that health education significantly reduced patient anxiety levels. The researcher hopes other nurses will continue providing health education to surgical patients using appropriate methods.
