E. TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Brunei Young Professional Section (YPS) will be
conducting three (3) Preliminary Rounds DIY Faraday Challenge events which involve secondary schools
school students in
YEAR 9 from 12 different schools in Brunei Darussalam which will be delivered FREE OF CHARGE.

The
he Faraday Challenge Days are one day STEM activities designed for eight (8) teams of six students per
preliminary round whereby the top two winning teams from each preliminary round will be selected to compete in
the National Finals DIY Faraday Challenge 2017
2017.

The aim of the event is to give students the opportunity to research, design and make prototype solutions to
genuinely tough engineering problems. This is in
in-line
line with the IET Brunei vision and mission in promoting the general
advancement of science, engineering and technolog
technologyy and to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas on
these subjects amongst the members of the IET and others. The challenges are not only for students to practice key
STEM skills and knowledge but also to encourage the development of students’ problem oblem solving, team working,
communication and presentation skills,, team management, etc etc.

PRELIMINARY ROUNDS DIY FARADAY CHALLENGE

IET YPS will shortlist twelve (12) schools to participate in the preliminary
reliminary rounds. The Preliminary Rounds DIY
Faraday Challenge will be held at Universit
Universiti of Teknologi Brunei (UTB); whereby 8 teams from 4 different schools will
compete in each round.

Each participating school are required to send TWO (2) teams to participate in one (1) of the three (3)
preliminary rounds. Also, the participating schools are required to provide light refreshment
freshment (breakfast/afternoon
tea) as well as transportation to the venue for their own participating students and teachers.

provided for participating students and teachers by the IET. The event will be set up and run by the YPS and On
Campus students and/or volunteers.

The theme of the challenge will only be revealed to the student on the challenge day itself. The top two (2)
winning teams from each preliminary round will be awarded with a cash prize of BND$200
$200.00 and will then qualify to
proceed to the next challenge in the National Final DIY Faraday Challenge 2017.
