OPERATIONAL PLAN

This section describes the physical necessities for the business’s operation, such as the physical
location, facilities and equipment. It also contains the steps undertaken by us so far to make
our business operational and our further operation plans to achieve our business objectives.
The first step taken by us was the registration of the company with the Registrar of Companies
in accordance with the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013.

LOCATION
The headquarter of the organization will be located at Bengaluru and the factory will be started
in a building that has been acquired by the company. The factory has the space of around 14000
square feet. The location of the factory is selected in a manner that ensures that the factory is
located in a prime location that ensures that the raw materials can be transported to the factory
easily. It is also a location that has a steady supply of water and electricity load capacity that is
required, which are two inputs which are necessary for running the plant and machinery that
are required for the manufacturing process.

TECHNOLOGY NEEDS
The main raw materials used today for making the sanitary napkins are mainly made from
cotton. With the help of research, our company has developed a new technology that combines
Nano fibers and cotton instead of cellulose. Cellulose has dangerous implications to the health
and hygiene of women. In order to ensure that there is no such harm caused to our consumers,
adequate tests has conducted to ensure the same.

PLANT AND MACHINERY SETUP

We are starting by setting up semi-automatic plants with a space of around 14000 square feet.
Basically, we will need to provide specific space for production, packaging, and storage. In
addition, we will need to have electricity connection and water supply. We have checked with
the machinery suppliers about the requirement of electricity load capacity.
In addition, we are providing a separate office space for administrative operations. Generally,
a semi-automatic plant consists several different machines. Some of the important machines
are:
 Mixer with pulverizer
 Napkin press machine
 Sealing machine
 Gumming machine
 UV treated sterilizer
 Packaging unit

MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND RAW MATERIALS

In this type of operation, the manufacturing process includes some simple steps. First of all,
we procure the raw materials. Additionally, prepare the soft pulp with the pulverizing machine.
Next step is the formation of the pad with a layer of cotton. Then the four sides of the napkins
are sealed. Then the gumming sheets are added at the back side. The napkins will then be
packed in moisture proof packets. Additionally, we will need to pack the napkins in the outer
cartoons for smooth transportation.
Basic required raw materials are:
 Cotton
 Nanofiber polymer
 Special Absorbent Polymer
 Non-Woven Fabric
 Polypropylene Back Sheet
 Silicon Paper Of 25 Micron (45Gsm)
 Hot Melt Seal
 Hot Melt Positioning Seal
In the entire manufacturing process, one of the most important considerations is quality control.
Basically, we work to ensure that our products are effective for the users. Additionally, we will
also concentrate on the distribution and marketing. Generally, brand awareness and sales
promotion play important role in the success of sanitary napkin manufacturing business overall
and we will focus our resources on the same.

QUALITY CHECK
We ensure that the raw materials procured for the manufacturing process are of the best
possible quality available. The cotton used in the process of manufacturing are natural cotton
and not synthetic cotton. We also ensure that the sanitary pads manufactured meet with the
standards laid down and the tests prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards 1980 such as
the test to determine whether the absorbent fillers in the sanitary napkins are lumpy and whether
the surface of the pads feel soft and comfortable enough.
Additionally, we will also arrange a focus group comprising of females ranging from the ages
as specified in our target markets. We will manufacture a first batch of trial sanitary napkins
and supply the same to the members of the focus group to use. We will conduct a survey to
collect their feedback to ensure that the napkins are efficient and comfortable. The suggestions
of the members of the focus will also be taken into account and implemented as required.

DISTRIBUTION AND TRANSPORTATION

Fundamentally, distribution and transportation in sanitary pads’ life circle have three
transitions: from raw materials to industrial factories, from industrial factories to consumers,
and from consumers to waste. In the transition from raw materials to industrial factories, cotton
will mainly be used from those produced in India as well as exported from countries such as
China, United States, Pakistan, Brazil, and some other places around the world. Transportation
of the raw materials will be done through land transport in the case of domestic location and
air transport in the case of far off locations. In the distribution from industrial factories to
consumers, we will choose the common way like other products, which is to use ocean
transport, rail transport, and air transport, whichever is most cost effective.
