• Remind students that letters are of two types:
consonants and vowels.
• Tell them that ‘a, e, i, o, u’ are vowels and the
remaining ones are consonants. Consonants and
vowels combine to make words.
• Tell students that today they are going to start their
new unit ‘All about Me’. It’s about Adam, who lives in
the USA. Today they will meet him and he will tell
them about himself. They will also learn about
consonants and vowels.
Activity 1:
Ask students to open textbook page # 1‘Listening and
Viewing Section’ of unit 1 ‘All about Me’. Show the book page
to students and start reading by showing pictures to them.
Read both pages and involve students by asking questions,
such as:
 What is your name?
 How old are you?
 Who is in your family?
Instruct students to observe carefully how you pronounce
consonants and vowels in words. Tell them to observe the
letters highlighted in blue in the text. Tell them that all the
highlighted letters are vowels.
Point to the word ‘red’ and explain that ‘r’ is a consonant ‘e’
is a vowel and‘d’ is also a consonant. Tell them that the word
‘red’ is made up of two consonants and one vowel. Instruct
students to pronounce consonants and vowels aloud. Correct
them if they pronounce any letter wrong.

Activity 2:
Place the flash cards of letters on the table. Now, pronounce
any one of the letter sounds every time and call the random
students to come over and pick the flash card of the letter
with that particular sound.

Quickly review the concept taught in the classroom today. 5 min

letters at the start of each word, for example, ‘a’ sound in
‘apple’.

Activity 2:
 Bring 10-12 word cards to the class (for example,
ant, bee, cat, doll, sit, fish, hen, wet, rug, jug, fan,
pot, hot, etc.).
 Pass out the cards to students.
 Call them, one at a time, instruct the student to say
the word on the card and tell the first letter of the
word.
 Repeat this activity using all the word cards to revise
the letters.
 Encourage students to participate and read the words
from the cards.
Activity 3:
 Divide students into 4-5 groups and provide them
flash cards of letters.
 Ask students to sort out flash cards into two groups,
consonants and vowels.
 Take a round and observe students, guide them if

 Point to different things in the picture one by one
and ask students, ‘What is this?’ For example, point
to the cat and ask, ‘What is this?’
 They must answer ‘Cat’.
 Now ask them, ‘Which letter the word cat begins
with?’ They must answer with letter ‘c’. Now instruct
them to match the letter ‘c’ on page # 2 with the cat
in the picture by drawing a line.
 Say them to find things in the picture beginning with
letter ‘t, d, b, o, a, g, and u’ and match them to the
letters. Help them if required. The correct answers
are:

 T-tree
 C-cat
 U-umbrella
 G-girl
 D-doll
 O-orange
 B-ball
 A-apple

Activity 2:
• Tell students to look at the picture on page# 2 of the
work book.
• Tell students that it is the bedroom of Adam. It has
many things. Point to the things and ask students to
tell their names. For example, point to the ‘bed’ and
ask, ‘What is this?’ They will answer ‘Bed’.
• Ask them, ‘Do you know which letter the word bed
starts with? Collect their responses and tell, ‘Its letter
b.’
• “Can you tell the starting letter (of the words) of
other things in this picture?” Ask them one by one.
• Once they are done, tell them to write the starting
letters in the blanks on page 2 of work book. Help
them if they need.

 Consonants and vowels combine to make words. For
example, the word ‘red’ is made up of two

 Call any five students one by one and ask them to

looks around and thinks of a thing in his/her mind and
asks others what thing he/she has thought about. For

Learning countable nouns.
 Explain them that noun is the name of a person, place or
a thing. Some things are countable and some are not.
For example, whiteboard, glass, table, chair and pencil
are countable nouns.

Activity 1:
 Direct students to open textbook page #12 of ‘Grammar
Section’ of unit 1 ‘All about Me’. Inform them that they
are going to learn about countable nouns.
 Open the textbook page and point to the picture on it.
Tell students that this is Adam’s bedroom. It has many
things. Ask them to identify and name the things they
can see in the bedroom. Note their responses on the
whiteboard.
 Do the model reading of the text with correct
pronunciation and intonation. Now, read the words
highlighted in blue and instruct students to read with
you.
 Tell them that all the things in Adam’s bedroom are
countable. For example: it has one table, one bed, one
school bag, one toy box and two basketballs. All the
things can be easily counted.
Wrap up Instruct students to read the text themselves. Once they are

 Show three objects or flash cards to students one by

 Hold up a flash card or object ‘pencil’ and ask, “What
is this?”
 Collect their responses as ‘a pencil.’ Tell them that
pencil is the name of a thing, so it is a noun.
 Now ask them to describe the pencil and record their
responses (for example, ‘a brown pencil’).
 Explain them that ‘brown’ is an adjective that is
describing the noun and it comes before a noun. Do
the same for other flash cards or objects.

Activity 2:

 Get students on textbook page # 7 of ‘Grammar


Section’ of unit 1 ‘All about Me!’

word bank to describe the sky.
 Do the same for cat, swing, pond, fish, grass and
duck. Guide them if they need. Once they share

 Bring two word cards (moon, stars) and a sticker that


has the word ‘and’ on it to the class.
 Call two students in front of the class.
 Ask both students to select a card, and say the word.
 Then instruct students to place their cards on the
table. Join these cards with the sticker (that has the
word “and” on it) and say the words “moon and
stars”.
 Explain them that some words help us join words
together, and these words are called connector for
addition. Tell students that ‘And’ is a connector for
addition.

Activity 2:
 Ask students to open textbook page # 9.
 Start reading textbook page # 9. Tell students that
this text is about Adam. Explain them that Adam likes
to look out of the window at night. He sees many
things out of the window, such as: moon, stars, park,
house, window, door, cat and mouse.
 Tell them that in this text every two words are
connected using the connector ‘and’. For example,
‘the park and the house, the window and the door,
the moon and the stars, the cat and the mouse’.
 Describe them the concept of ‘connector for addition’
and tell that we can connect words and phrases using
‘and’.
 Write two nouns (e.g. door, chair, table, book,
notebook) on the whiteboard and join two words
using ‘and’ e.g. door and chair).

Activity 1:
 Instruct students to look at the picture on the work
book page.
 Guide them that they have to connect words by using
connector ‘and’.
 Point to the picture. Tell them to look at the arrows
and see which things they are pointing to. For
example, arrows are pointing to the cat and the tree.
So they have to connect cat and tree like ‘the cat and
the tree’.
 Do the same for other arrows and write the answers
on the board:
 the cat and the tree
 the girl and the boy
 the car and the truck
 Once you have finished, again point to the picture
and ask questions.
 Note their responses and instruct them to write their
answers in their activity book.

Activity 2:
 Get students on page # 8 of their practice books.
 Read out the instruction and explain them what they
have to do.
 Ask them to name the pictures. Collect their
responses and appreciate them for their participation.
Now, make them write the name of each picture.
Direct them to join the name of pictures using ‘and’

 Write two sentences on the board with small letters.


 Don’t start any sentence with a capital letter. Ask
students if it’s right. Note their response.
 Rewrite the sentences with the first letter of the first
word of each sentence capital.
 Explain them that the first letter of every sentence is
always capitalized.
 Now, encourage students to write a sentence in their
notebook on their own. Instruct them to write the
first letter of the sentence capital. Help them if
required.

Activity 2:

 Ask students to open textbook page # 10 of


‘Punctuation Section’ of unit 1 ‘All about me’.
 Read aloud the text.
 Ask students to observe that the first letter of the
first word of every sentence is highlighted and it is
capital.
 Ask the students, “Can anyone tell me, why the first

 Tell students to open textbook page # 13-14 of


‘Listening and Viewing Section’ of unit 2 ‘Save Me’.
 Do the model reading of page # 13-14 with correct
pronunciation and intonation. Instruct students to
listen to you attentively and read the text again in
chorus. Ask them to point to Rayyan just to make
sure they are following along.
 Illustrate to students that this poem is about
pollution. Rayyan is feeling very upset due to the
pollution. Pollution is increasing day by day and it is
destroying our environment.
 Tell them that in this poem, the last two words of
every two lines rhyme with each other. The poem has
four stanzas. Each stanza has four lines. Ask them to
observe the rhyming words properly.
 Encourage them to read the text themselves. Help
them if required.
Activity 2:
 Ask students if they have ever faced the same
situation as in the poem.
 Discuss with them about pollution. Ask if they have
any confusion about the poem.

Section’ of unit 2 ‘Save Me’.
 Do model reading of the poem with correct
pronunciation and intonation, keeping the rhyming
pattern in view.
 Read each stanza one by one and Ask students to
look at the highlighted letters in the poem.
 Tell the students that all the initial short vowels are
highlighted in red at the start of the words in the
poem.
 Instruct them to focus on ‘u’ sound in umbrella and
‘e’ sound in egg in first stanza, ‘a’ sound in alligator

in insect in third stanza.

subject and the verb in it.
 Ask them look at the highlighted words, they are
subjects in the sentence.
 Discuss with them that every sentence must have a
subject and a verb. A subject is a noun that doing the
action and action is the verb. For example, in the
sentence ‘Dad digs’, ‘Dad’ is the subject and ‘digs’ is
the verb.

Activity 2:
 Now Ask students that they have to make their own
sentences using the 'subject' and the 'verb'.
 Help them to make sentences.
Tell them to note in their notebooks.

Wrap up the lesson by asking the students what they have
