STATEMENT OF EXPLANATION
Myself Divakar Venkatarathinam, with a keen interest in Computer Science, I completed my 10th
grade with an overall percentage of 72.6 and my 12th grade with 68 percent. Later during my
graduation, my interest in science and technology evolved as passion. Curiosity is the engine for
exploration, During my school, I got inspired by the story of Alan Turing who saved the world
during the Second World War with his first-ever computer called Turing machine the breaker of
the Nazis enigma. It made me believe that Science is the Superpower which can create a better
world.
It was always my dream to study computer science and engineering after high school. Hence, I
got admission into Anna University affiliated Velammal Engineering College and obtained my
Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Computer Science. While my graduation, I had developed a
strong interest in acquiring analytical and reasoning skills and exposed to basic and advanced
programming like C and Object-oriented programming language. Also, my interest in Data
structure, Database management, Computer Networks and LINUX operating system helped me
during my final year project on Network layers and Database Management.
Inspired by IEEE paper smart file sharing, I worked on a project “Distributed Content File Sharing”
using Android phones in my college. I specifically developed and designed a database using MS-
SQL from scratch in order to store data, track device status and device files information. As a
team, we built Robust Software architecture containing Database layer, Apache Tomcat server,
Network Security layer and Authentication layer. Tracking the device status was quite challenging.
However, we resolved it using SMS trigger via our android application called Mobitribe. At the
time of campus placement, the interviewer was impressed with my project especially Hand-drawn
Network Authentication method used in my project and I was offered a job in 3I INFOTECH PVT
LTD (Transcentra FTS USA).
I joined my first job as a Trainee and later promoted as Software Engineer, initially I was trained
on batch processing, Production Database issues and Network Server handling. My performance
in programming skills was highly appreciated and I was given an opportunity to work with Citibank
USA. My learning during the first two years was on technology like database languages, core
Java, UNIX containers and Shell scripting. Meanwhile, I started developing a significant interest
to learn new products and started looking for a greater opportunity.
In my second company TEMENOS INDIA PVT LTD as a Software Engineer, I have been involved
with one of the world's top banking product T24. Working on this project has helped me hone my
Banking and Wealth Management knowledge. I had handled Production Network and Database
issues, Data Maintenance activities, Analyzing and classifying Network implementation and
resolving critical issues. The major challenge was to install the product at the client place with
zero vulnerability in the Network Security in order to restrict the hackers from accessing
confidential data.
My experience in the banking domain has helped me understand the Network security and
Network risk management on a large scale. It sowed the seed of motivation to learn about
Networking in depth. After a lot of research and suggestions, I desire to study Applied Network
Infrastructure and System Administration at Conestoga College. The syllabus covered in this
particular course has advantages like Wireless technology, Implementation with Hyper-V,
advanced servers and four live projects, this unique and required combination differs from courses
from India. Moreover, proficiency in networking from International quality education will enhance
my skills globally and helps me to achieve my professional goals.
Conestoga College provides international students with world-class infrastructure for Computer
Science and Information Technology studies. The Advantage of pursuing a Graduate Certificate
at Conestoga College is that the highly qualified instructors from the field of IT. I strongly believe
that the training from the professionals who have the same domain exposure will help me develop
my technical skills and experience to achieve my goals and implement my knowledge to the fullest
when I return to my country. Additionally, Canada has a world-class education platform that will
provide exposure to International experience.
In this evolving world, the rapid growth of data is the major surface for hackers. There is a higher
chance of data piracy and criminal act on sensitive data. Hence, I chose Networking as my
specialization and I believe Applied Network Infrastructure and System Administration is the
perfect course for my professional certification and helps me create a good career in India.
I have paid my Tuition fees of 16054.07 CAD and have got the GIC Certificate for 10,000 CAD in
CIBC bank for my living expenses. My brother is working as a Senior Software Engineer in
Cognizant India and my Father is working as a Maintenance Supervisor in Madha hospitals in
Chennai. My family possesses sufficient Savings fund to support my studies in Canada.
I ensure my diligence and commitment to my studies. I strongly desire to improve my knowledge,

passion and experience by doing this program. Experience and certification from Canada are
highly recognized in India. Post my studies in Applied Network Infrastructure and System
Administration from Conestoga College in Canada I look forward to employed as an IT network
administrator in a Top Multinational Organization in India. Moreover, I live in a joint family and
never left my happy nest until now since I was born. India being my homeland where my family
live, I wish to come back post my education to take care of my parents and family assets.
To the best of my knowledge and understanding, I am submitting my statement along with copies
of the relevant documents for your consideration. Therefore I hereby request the Canadian High
Commission to Process my Canadian Student Visa Application to pursue my studies.
