Section : 11- Abigail Rating: ___________________
Essay:
1. Describe the three levels of control in an organization. Consider an
organization with which you are familiar. Identify a control at each level.
In management, there are varying levels of control: strategic
(highest level), operational (mid-level), and tactical (low level).

2. Describe the major types of control by timing. Suppose that you are
managing a small factory that makes specialized microchips for a well-
known computer manufacturer. Explain how you would use each control
type to help maintain adequate control over the manufacturing process.
There are 3 types of control by timing listed as feedforward control,
concurrent control and feedback control. Feedforward control is an element or
pathway within a control system that passes a controlling signal from a source in
its external environment to a load elsewhere in its external environment.
Concurrent control takes place while an activity is in progress. It involves the
regulation of ongoing activities that are part of transformation process to ensure
that they conform to organizational standards. Feedback control evaluates the
team's progress by comparing the output the team was planning on producing to
what was actually produced. I would use these controls as a basis or guideline of
how I would control the production of microchips in our factory.
3. Differentiate cybernetic and non-cybernetic controls. Explain how you
might use these 2 types of control in a manegerial position.
