Tam-awan Village in Pinsao Proper, Baguio City uniquely blends indigenous aesthetics and exquisite
Cordilleran craftsmanship with an artist’s concept for a village adapting to Baguio setting. It is a reconstructed
Cordillera village showcasing the traditional Ifugao Huts, and Baguio’s art and culture scene. It was established by
National Artist BenCab in 1998 together with Chanum Foundation to promote the local Baguio Artists. Tam-awan is a
local word which means “vantage point”. You can check out the permanent and occasional art exhibits from various
Baguio artists. Also, artists are always available to sketch your portrait. There is a Cafe where you can get a taste of
Cordillera flavors. Lastly, you can immerse yourself in the culture by staying overnight in the village in one of the
authentic Ifugao huts. The traditional huts are named after their places of origin. The Bangaan Hut, Anaba Hut, Batad
Hut, Dukligan Hut, Kinakin Hut and Nagor Hut are from Ifugao province. Meanwhile, the Luccong and Bugnay huts
came from Kalinga. You can also lodge in one of those huts to experience the traditional lifestyle. On the other hand,
the Bugnay serves as the village’s artwork gallery.

There’s also a store right after the entrance of the village where you can find locally made products ranging
from weaved items, clothing, native woodwork, and delicacies. Find a great pasalubong for your love ones at home in
this craft shop. There’s also a store right after the entrance of the village where you can find locally made products

increases awareness and respect in their tradition and way of life. You can also enhance your skills by joining art
workshops held in the village. The village has two viewing decks wherein you can see the cityscape of Baguio. On
clear days, you can see the sun setting in the China sea, which also serves as a definition for the word Tam-
Awan meaning: vantage point. When we visited Tam-Awan Village, the whole place was shrouded with fog and clouds;
like a white blanket covering the panorama on the other side.

It is wondeful and a great place to learn about the local culture. As there is a bit of trekking because you have
to go up stairs to explore the whole place, it's a good place for kids to explore and walk around and for friends to take
pictures and just chill. The place is very nice and interesting. Great paintings and art. You walk thru a small jungle with
very cute corners and art pieces of the Igorot tribe. Its not for old or disabled people, you need to climb and its also
slippery.

Tam-Awan Village is also an interactive museum seated on a hill covered in thick rain forest. After paying the
entrance fee, a staff member will provide a map of the whole place wherein you’ll find different galleries housing
native Cordilleran art. Satisfy your artsy cravings by visiting each galleries, and appreciate the beauty of local art.
Located in Pinsao Proper in Baguio City, the Tam-Awan Village is a great addition to your Baguio City
escapade. there’s a lot of things to discover in this beautiful model village. Here are the things that you can do in
this Garden in the Sky. Tam-Awan Village is a great place for nature lovers. Immerse yourself in different forms of
flora and fauna which is ubiquitous in the village. There’s also a pond in the middle, and a gazebo at the upper part of
the village where you can stay and meditate.
To make most of your visit, it's good to come here on a Saturday since they have a mini cultural dance/ Igorot
presentation. In other days, it's just the plants, trees, cafe, and some artcrafts. I like that they let you explore the
place yourself. I like the short trek. The place is slippery so it is not for elderly. They’ll provide you with map with
details but visitors will probably not read it because it is very long. There are details attached to the nipa huts or
artworks but I think, it would be better if there is a guide to explain it. I’m not sure if they already had the view deck in
my first visit. It’s quite disappointing because all you can see is the road and the houses. Also, I saw that they added
air-conditioned non-traditional rooms which I think, defeats their original intention of letting people experience staying
in a traditional Igorot Hut. I saw posts that they do cultural shows. But for my second time around, I still haven’t got a
chance to see it. The meals are also expensive. There is also an exhibit where you can buy some artwork and a
souvenir shop. The concept is interesting but it seems to lack the experience you’ll get. If you happen to visit this
place, you can drop by The Farmer’s Daughter restaurant. The food is cheaper and authentic Ilocano.
For me, It’s a great experience to witness the tribes of the Cordiellans, because I able to gain new more knowledge
about their culture and to be able to share it to the next generation. For me as a tourism student, It helps me a lot to
preapare myself in the future because we all know that in the field of tourism we need to know about this kind of top
attractions because we can use it in our future jobs like tour guiding. It is a very adventurous experience, but I enjoy it
and challenged me a lot upon taking it to the peak of the mountain. It is always my pleasure to experience this kind
of tour because I enjoy doing it and at the same time I’ll be able to gain new knowledge.
