 All questions are compulsory.
 The question paper consists of 40 questions divided into four sections A, B, C and D.
 Section A contains 20 questions of one mark each.
 Section B contains 6 questions of two marks each.
 Section C contains 8 questions of three marks each.
 Section D contains 6 questions of four marks each.
 Use of calculators is not permitted.

21. Find the number of all three-digit natural numbers which are divisible by 9.
22. Find the values of p & q for which the following system has infinite solutions.
2x + 3y = 7 ;
(p + q)x + (2p – q)y = 21.
23. Two concentric circles are of radii 5cm and 3 cm. Find the length of the chord of the larger
circle which touches the smaller circle.
24. A lot of 25 bulbs contain 5 defective ones. One bulb is drawn at random from the lot. What is
the probability that the bulb is good.
OR
Two dice are thrown simultaneously at random. Find the probability of getting a sum of eight.
25. If the line segment joining the points A(2,1) and B (5,-8) is trisected at the points P and Q, find
the coordinates of P.
26. The ratio between the volumes of two spheres is 8 : 27. What is the ratio between their surface
areas?
Section C
27. Prove that √2 is an irrational number.
Or
Find the HCF of 45 and 240 using Euclid’s division lemma.
28. Find the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial 𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 − 10 and verify the relationship between
the zeroes and coefficient.
29. Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.
30. Solve 2𝑥 + 3𝑦 = 11 and 𝑥 − 2𝑦 = −12 algebraically and hence find the value of ‘m’ for
which y= mx + 3.
31. If 𝑠𝑖𝑛 𝜃 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠 𝜃 = √3, then prove that 𝑡𝑎𝑛 𝜃 + 𝑐𝑜𝑡 𝜃 = 1.
Or
Prove that √𝑠𝑒𝑐 2 𝜃 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑒𝑐 2 𝜃 = 𝑡𝑎𝑛𝜃 + 𝑐𝑜𝑡𝜃.
32. An umbrella has 8 ribs which are equally spaced. Assuming umbrella to be a flat circle of
radius 45 cm, find the area between the two consecutive ribs of the umbrella.
33. Find the mode of the following frequency distribution:
34. A solid metallic hemisphere of radius 8 cm is melted and recasted into a right circular cone of
base radius 6 cm. Determine the height of the cone.

Section D
35. Draw a triangle ABC with side BC = 6 cm, AB = 5 cm and ∠ABC = 60°. Then construct a

triangle whose sides are 4 of the corresponding sides of the triangle ABC.
Or
Construct a pair of tangents to a circle of radius 3 cm which are inclined to each other at
an angle of 60°.
36. If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides in distinct
points, then prove that the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
Or
State and prove the Pythagoras theorem.
37. Find two consecutive positive integers sum of whose squares is 365.
38. A copper rod of diameter 1 cm and length 8 cm is drawn in to a wire of length 18 m of uniform
thickness. Find the thickness of wire.
Or
Water is flowing at the rate of 15km/hour through a pipe of diameter 14cm into a cuboidal
pond which is 50m long and 44m wide. In what time will the level of water in the pond rise by
21cm?
39. The angle of elevation of the top of a building from the foot of the tower is 30° and the angle of
elevation of the top of the tower from the foot of the building is 60°. If the tower is 50 m high,
find the height of the building.
40. A carton of 24 bulbs contain 6 defective bulbs. One bulbs is drawn at random. What is the
probability that the bulb is not defective? If the bulb selected is defective and it is not replaced
and a second bulb is selected at random from the rest, what is the probability that the second
bulb is defective?
Or
For the following distribution, draw the cumulative frequency curve more than type and
hence obtain the median from the graph.
