Basics
This tune is very simple and relatively easier than the most of other songs of Tommy’s.
I couldn’t really think of many useful tips for this song but I think it is very important to try to let all the notes ring
out so that the song has a nice flow to it. I put chord diagrams and left and right hands fingerings. I think it’s pretty
much the same as Tommy’s fingerings and I’m sure it will help you learn the song quickly.

Intro

Tommy describes Intro as “Tenderness”. Play it softly.

Verse A

He describes this part as “Quirkiness”. There are some interesting chords that are quirky.

This chord in measure 8, the fingering is how I do it. The fingering in brackets is Tommy’s way
and it was so difficult for me so I came up with my own fingering which is still a bit uncomfortable but easier than
Tommy’s. If you have big hands this chord wouldn’t be a problem.
In measure 10, the G chord is a bit stretchy. Don’t let your palm touch any strings so you don’t mute any notes.
Thorough measure 10 and 11, try let all the notes ring out. Once you mute any notes, especially the melody, the
song loses its flow and it doesn’t sound good. This part is probably the most difficult part of this song.

Verse B

It’s almost the same as Verse A. Some differences are that in measure 15 and 16, on your right hand, you give it a
brush instead of playing arpeggios. Sometimes even the arpeggio pattern changes depending on the performance so
I think it’s ok not to worry about it too much.

Chorus

Tommy says this part is about “Strength”.

Try to give the base notes good presence but not too strong so that it doesn’t overwhelm the melody and the
harmonies. Also concentrate to let all the notes ring out. Don’t mute them when changing chords.

Bridge

The chords and chord progressions are the same as the intro but different arpeggio pattern.

Outro

It is simple but beautiful arpeggios to finish the song. The chords are the same as the intro. Sometimes Tommy
plays the arpeggios with a thumbpick to give a different texture to the sound (in measure 38).
