 Breif Introduction

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the sole national Accreditation Body for the
United Kingdom. UKAS is recognized by government, to assess against internationally agreed
standards, organizations that provide certification, testing & inspection and calibration services.
Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of
these evaluators. In short, UKAS ‘checks the checkers’. UKAS is a non-profit-distributing private
company, limited by guarantee. UKAS is independent of Government.

The Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) helps markets work better by
providing internationally recognised accreditation services that create economic benefit.

The Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) has been established under the administrative
control of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Pakistan as the national apex
agency to accredit conformity assessment bodies such as laboratories and certification bodies. PNAC
was established in 1998 after signing WTO in 1995. The accreditation services of PNAC were launched
during the year 2001. PNAC achieved a milestone of Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) with
International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and Multi-literal Recognition Arrangement
(MLA) with international Accreditation Forum (IAF). PNAC is also board member of international Halal
Accreditation Forum (IHAF). PNAC is also secured signatory membership of Asia Pacific Accreditation
Cooperation (APAC). Now Pakistan is included in the list of countries having equivalent status for
accreditation of testing & calibration laboratories and certification bodies for QMS , EMS and product
certification all over the world.
A2LA is the only independent, 501(c)3, non-profit, internationally-recognized accreditation body in
the United States that offers a full range of comprehensive laboratory and laboratory-related
accreditation services.Established in 1978 as a non-profit, public service membership society. A2LA is
dedicated to the formal recognition of competent testing and calibration laboratories, inspection
bodies, proficiency testing providers, and reference material producers. A2LA offers three main
service lines to support recognition of competence in laboratory and laboratory-related industries.

Accredia is the body designated by the Italian government to attest to the competence, independence
and impartiality of the bodies and laboratories that verify the conformity of the goods and services to
the standards.

The ANSI National Accreditation Board is the largest multi-disciplinary accreditation body in North
America. We play an important role in ensuring the safety and quality of goods and services and in
protecting the environment. We accredit management systems and certification bodies, calibration
and testing labs, forensic test and calibration service providers, inspection bodies, police crime units,
reference material producers, and proficiency test providers.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has served in its capacity as administrator and
coordinator of the United States private sector voluntary standardization system for more than 100
years. Founded in 1918 by five engineering societies and three government agencies, the Institute
remains a private, nonprofit membership organization supported by a diverse constituency of private
and public sector organizations.

The Accreditation Body of Serbia (ATS) is a national accreditation body in the Republic of Serbia,
established by the Republic of Serbia in accordance with the Decision on the Establishment of the
Accreditation Body of Serbia ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia" No. 96/06 and 14/11) from
Articles 3 and 8 of the Accreditation Act ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia" No. 73/2010) for
which the founder's rights are exercised by the Government.
The formation of the National Accreditation System in the Republic of Belarus started in 1992. The
state standards of the Republic of Belarus were developed on the basis of EN 45000 series and
ISO/IEC Guides. Thereby the principles of the National Accreditation System of the Republic of Belarus
were harmonized with the international requirements._x000D_
Before 2010 accreditation was performed by several accreditation bodies. In 2010 they were merged
into one legal entity – thus, the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Belarusian State Centre for
Accreditation” was established as the sole accreditation body of the Republic of Belarus. There was a
transition period within which BSCA accreditation rules and procedures were brought into compliance
with EA requirements.

The Czech Accreditation Institute, a public benefit corporation, as the National Accreditation Body
established by the Government of the Czech Republic, provides its services in all accreditation areas to
both state and private entities in accordance with applicable law. The principle of a single European
accreditation system made up of national accreditation bodies operating under uniform rules and
accredited according to defined internationally recognized standards is based on the EC position
specified in the Global Approach to Testing and Certification.

Formed in 1996, the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) is the national authority for the
independent accreditation of conformity assessment bodies in Singapore. Operating under Enterprise
Singapore, a statutory board of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, SAC also builds trust in Singapore
products and services by strengthening Singapore’s technical infrastructure for conformity
assessments and forging mutual recognition agreements (MRAs) with our economic partners. SAC’s
primary function is to accredit conformity assessment services, such as testing, calibration, inspection
and certification.
The Hellenic Accreditation System (ESYD) is established by the Law 4468/2017; a non-profit legal
entity of private law with the purpose of the implementation and management of the National
Accreditation System, has administrative and financial autonomy and is supervised by the Minister of
Economy and Development.The Hellenic Accreditation System (ESYD) has been appointed as the
National Accreditation Body of Greece according to the requirements of Article 4 of the Regulation
(EC) No 765/2008 according to which each Member State shall appoint a single national accreditation
body.

IAB (International Accreditation Board) provides accreditation to Certification Bodies for various
Management System Schemes as per ISO 17021, Personnel Certification Bodies as per ISO 17024,
Inspection Bodies as per ISO 17020 based on assessment of their competence as per its criteria and in
accordance with IAB and International Standards and Guidelines.It is a non-Profit organization. It
operates in accordance with relevant international standards and requirements and maintains
integrity and impartiality while taking into account national and public interest. IAB aims to establish
an independent, impartial and transparent accreditation system. As a not-for-profit accreditation
body, decisions made by IAB are not subject to any commercial or financial obligations. IAB is
internationally recognized and objective of becoming a signatory to international Multilateral /
Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MLA / MRA) simultaneously ensuring measures to safeguard
impartiality and objectivity of its accreditation process.Accreditation approval committee makes
decisions concerning about granting and continuation of accreditation services.

DANAK was founded as a business-oriented Fund in 2002 and started operating as a separate entity
from the beginning of 2003. Originally, it was active under the name of the Danish National Testing
Board approving laboratories for testing and calibration since 1973. Since then new accreditation
areas were added.

UAF is a not-for-profit organization. It operates in accordance with relevant international standards

and requirements and maintains integrity and impartiality while taking into account national and
public interest. UAF has established as an independent, impartial and transparent accreditation
system. As a not-for-profit accreditation body, decisions made by UAF are not subject to any
commercial or financial obligations. UAF is internationally recognized and represents the interests of
the stakeholders at international forums through membership and active participation with the
objective of becoming a signatory to international Multilateral / Mutual Recognition Arrangements
(MLA / MRA) simultaneously ensuring measures to safeguard impartiality and objectivity of its
accreditation process.
The Sri Lanka Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment (SLAB) is the National Accreditation
Authority for Sri Lanka established under the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment
Act. No. 32 of 2005.

The National Certification Foundation (TAF) promotes the international certification of various
certification agencies, inspection agencies and laboratories in China, and establishes the evaluation
standards for the quality and technical capabilities of domestic certification bodies, inspection
agencies and laboratories, combined with professional manpower. Evaluation and application of
capability tests to accredit certification agencies, inspection agencies and laboratories to enhance
their quality and technical capabilities, and to focus on talent training and information promotion,
strengthen certification credibility, expand the international market, and enhance national
competitiveness.
