Jack of Swords: a sharp-tongued woman. Knight and King of Swords: Body and
mind of a man of justice, lawyer, district attorney, judge, or the like.
Jack of Coins: The woman who does the reading. Knight and King of Cups:
Body and mind of the man who consults, reader or individual who wishes to
know.
In the case of the other suits, they are used to intervene in the cartomantic
operation, bearing in mind that jacks represent the thoughts of the king of the
same suit.
To start the divination, you need to shuffle and cut the deck, leaving 5 piles in
the shape of a cross, while asking Saint Cyprian to reveal the answers to the
question.
The deck should be laid as such:

Then, the cartomancer, will start to take a card from each pile following the
cross, and will arrange them in 5 lines of 8 cards.
An example, for a lady asking about the object of her love:
First line: Ace of coins, seven of clubs, knight of coins, jack of coins, ace of
cups, two of clubs, five of coins, four of swords
Second line: King of clubs, knight of swords, two of swords, king of swords, jack
of cups, king of cups, six of clubs
Third line: five of coins, five of cups, two of clubs, seven of cups, five of swords,
four of clubs, ace of clubs, ace of swords
Fourth line: Knight of clubs, four of swords, king of swords, three of swords, jack
of clubs, king of cups, six of swords, six of cups
Fifth line: Six of coins, six of clubs, four of coins, two of coins, ace of cups, king
of coins, three of cups.

(NOTE: I am aware that some cards are repeated, this is the way it’s
written in the book)
Arranged the cards in this manner, the reader shall interpret one by one; but if
in the whole, no concrete and certain answer would appear, it will be necessary
to study the meaning of their reunion, keeping in mind the meaning of each
card, otherwise the operation shall be fruitless.
Now we shall take the cards from the sides, making a cross. (NOTE: it’d be the
diagonals, the ace of coins and three of cups to begin with), making the
meaning of the divination: something of value with joyous and happy night, a
gentleman with his thought set on a lady, and with ideas he already has towards
her, with a role in the church, through the short path with his five senses, with
large and small amounts of money comes from the outside door.
In short, the querent will marry the object of her affections, and the marriage will
bring her luck and money, and before that, she will receive something of value.
In the same manner, one would continue with the two following lines, until the
third line, sine there is no king, knight of jack on it through this method, it means
that the querent can ask a new question using the method above described.

Prayer before using the cards:

O beloved lord, thou who are the God of the universe, let these cards
reveal to me what I want to know, because Lord, none but them is given to
me. That is Lord be with me and help me and assist me. Most Holy Mary,
my Mother, help me through the intervention of your Beloved Son, my
God, whom I love with all my heart, body, soul and life. Cards, I trust that
you will not fail me, because of the merits of the blood that Our Lord
Jesus Christ shed. Amen.
Another treatise on Cartomancy
(NOTE: this part seems to be a latter addition. Note that there’s meaning
to cards that belong on a 52-card deck and not the traditional 40, where
the Jack, Knight and King take the place of the 8, 9 and 10 respectively.
There’s also no additional information on how to incorporate this to a
reading. No additional prayers are given.)
