Choose a volunteer to present his/her ideas about the factors of risk


and give example in relation to the previous activity.

1. Severity of exposure- the amount of exposure to the disaster is highly


related to risk of future mental problems..
2. Gender and Family- Almost always women or girls suffer more
negative effects than do men or boys.
3. Age-Adults who are in the age of 40-60 are likely to be more
distressed after disasters.

1. Hazard- is a phenomenon that poses threat to the people, structure or


economic assets and which may cause a disaster. It could be natural or
human-induced.
2. Disaster- A serious disruption in the functioning of a society, causing
widespread human, material or environmental losses which exceeds the
ability of the affected society to cope within its own resources.
3.Risk - The probability of harmful consequences or expected losses,
resulting from interaction between natural or human-made hazards and
vulnerable conditions.

Note: Additional information given to the learners to have further


knowledge.
