Instructions
Complete this exercise to ensure that you have the correct version and level of ArcGIS Pro
installed on your computer and licensed for use in this course.
Time to complete
Approximately 15-30 minutes.
Software requirements
ArcGIS Pro version 2.3.2
Introduction
The goal of this exercise is ensure that you have the correct version and level of ArcGIS Pro
installed on your computer and licensed for use in this course.
Important: We ask all students, whether you have ArcGIS Pro installed or not, to
complete this exercise.
Option 1: Using your existing installation of ArcGIS Pro (for students who already have
ArcGIS Pro installed
If you already have ArcGIS Pro installed on your computer and you have an ArcGIS Online
organizational account (not a free public account, you may be able to use them for this
course.
Important: A free public account does not qualify as an ArcGIS Online organizational
account.
You will need to meet all three (3) requirements listed below. Each link explains
how to determine if you meet the requirement.
If you are using a school or work computer, contact your IT or GIS manager or ArcGIS Online
administrator for approval and support before making any changes.
1. You will need to be running the version of the software used in this course. This course
uses ArcGIS Pro 2.3.2. Click here (https://bit.ly/2KcgIg2) to determine what version of
ArcGIS Pro you are currently running.
2. You will need to have a Standard or an Advanced license lfor ArcGIS Pro that will not
expire until after June 5, 2019. Click here (https://bit.ly/2CZGTk5) to determine the
licenses you currently have.
3. You will need to have an ArcGIS Online organizational account (not a free public
account) with specific privileges. Click here (https://bit.ly/2UAo4xK) to verify you have
the required privileges.
a If you meet all three (3) requirements listed above and plan to use your ArcGIS Online
organizational account to complete the exercises in this course, update your credentials
table as shown in the example below:
• Fill in the cell labeled (5) with your ArcGIS Online organizational account user name.
• Fill in the cell labeled (6) with your ArcGIS Online organizational account password.

b If you do not meet all three (3) requirements listed above or you do not wish to use your
ArcGIS Online organizational account to complete the exercises in this course, change
your ArcGIS Pro license as described in this Common Question (https://bit.ly/2G4Ukkz).
Note: Once you have changed your ArcGIS license, you will complete all exercises in this
course using your course ArcGIS credentials. Your user name will include _cart.
Option 2: Installing ArcGIS Pro for the first time (for students who do not have ArcGIS
Pro installed
If you do not already have ArcGIS Pro installed on your computer, complete the remainder of
this exercise to download, install and license ArcGIS Pro 2.3.2
1. Download ArcGIS Pro
d Browse to my.esri.com.
If you are signed in, you will see your name and Esri user name in the top-right corner.
e If you are not yet signed in, sign in with your Esri credentials.
i Click Downloads.
Note: If for some reason you do not see the Downloads option, sign out of my.esri.com by
clicking your name (at the top right) and choosing Sign Out. After you have signed out,
choose Sign In and sign back in with your Esri credentials. You should see the Downloads
options in the My Organizations tab.
The software installation file will begin to download to the default download location you
have set in your browser. If there is not enough space (about 1.2 GB) in that default location,
you may need to change the default download location set in your browser (https://bit.ly/
2MoWY9G) and start the download again. Be patient as the large file downloads. There is no
need to download any other software from this page; you will not be provided a license for
any other products.
l If you want to download and install a language pack so that ArcGIS Pro runs in a different
language, you are welcome to do so.
Note: Please note that the course is taught in English, and all screenshots in the exercises will
use the English version of ArcGIS Pro.
2. Install ArcGIS Pro
m After the download is completed, locate the downloaded .exe file on your computer.
o Follow the defaults, and choose the option to run ArcGIS Pro.
3. Sign in for the first time
p Refer to your credentials table. Ensure you have your course ArcGIS credentials properly
documented.

q When ArcGIS Pro presents a Sign In dialog box, sign in with your course ArcGIS
credentials (the user name will include _cart).
Note: If ArcGIS Pro does not start automatically, double-click the ArcGIS Pro icon on your
desktop or start ArcGIS Pro from the Start menu.
s On the About ArcGIS Pro page, in the Software Update section, click Download Now to
download and install ArcGIS Pro 2.3 Patch 2.
t Follow the defaults, and choose the option to start ArcGIS Pro.
u If necessary, sign in to ArcGIS Pro (the user name will include _eiaw).
Note: If ArcGIS Pro does not start automatically, double-click the ArcGIS Pro icon on your
desktop or start ArcGIS Pro from the Start menu.
v Verify ArcGIS Pro is open at the start page and you are signed in with your course ArcGIS
credentials.
