Using the App Return to
Contents

Your Unit (Hardware) and AIRA Modular Customizer

BITRAZER, DEMORA, TORCIDO, and SCOOPER can be used in the various ways listed below. In particular, you can
take full advantage of each unit’s distinctive capabilities by using it in conjunction with AIRA Modular Customizer.

• Use as a stand-alone effect processor.

• Patch with other modular synthesizers or effect units, and use as a Eurorack module.

• Use AIRA Modular Customizer to customize your unit (hardware).

This allows methods of use that are not possible for a conventional Eurorack module, such as making
the unit act virtually as a different effect unit or Eurorack module, or by using a GRIFFER knob of this unit
(hardware) to control multiple modular synthesizers or effects.

Customization Procedure
Here’s the procedure for using this app to customize your unit.

1. Connect your tablet or computer to the unit (hardware).

This app lets you customize to your heart’s content by virtually placing sub-modules within the hardware, by
adjusting parameters, and by making connections.

You can save your customized settings in a file (p. 15) for easy recall.

Selecting/Changing the Main Module

Here’s how to select the main module.

1. Touch the system menu, and choose “Select Main Module.” System menu

The selecting main module screen appears.

2. Touch the desired main module to select it.

* Select the same main module as the hardware that you have. Even
if you select the main module of different hardware, you won’t be
able to edit the settings.
* If you change the main module, the connections are maintained
while exchanging only the main module.

Wiring Method
You can customize your setup by wiring the main modules and sub-modules.
Before customizing, you should carefully read the following cautions and use these settings correctly.

NOTE

If a sub-module that outputs a CV/GATE signal is connected to OUTPUT 1/2 of the app, the unit
(hardware) will output the CV/GATE signal. This could damage your speakers, so if you make such a
connection, do not connect the unit (hardware) directly to your speakers.

When connecting multiple cables to a single jack, please note and observe the following points.

• Connecting (inputting) multiple CV/GATE signals will sum the voltages.

• Connecting (inputting) multiple audio outputs will mix the sound. If the audio signal is too strong,
the sound may distort.
• Do not connect a CV/GATE signal and an audio signal to the same jack. Doing so may damage your
speakers.

• A sub-module will output either audio or a CV/GATE signal. Some sub-modules may output either an audio
signal or a CV/GATE signal depending on the input signal, so please check the output specifications of each
sub-module.
• You can connect an output jack and an input jack. You cannot connect an input jack to an input jack, nor an
output jack to an output jack.
• You can connect multiple cables from a single jack.
• You can connect multiple cables to a single jack.
• The unit (hardware) can transmit and receive CV/GATE signals in the range of -10–+10 V.
• The knobs and buttons of the unit (hardware) output CV/GATE signals in the range of 0–+10 V.
• The gate voltage threshold of the unit (hardware) and app is +3 V.
• If you turn on a button inside the app, the button setting of the app takes priority and the external input of
the unit (hardware) is ignored.
